[eCanada Ambassador to eSpain] A Canada-Spain NAP ✓
New Faustian Man
*
eSpain have issued an NAP proposal to Canada [viewable here], this consists of the following:
NAP PROPOSAL
1 - eSpain will have Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. eCanada will have the other nine regions.
2 - Neither eSpain nor eCanada will fight on the resistance side in any RW on those four regions. eCanada will ask its allies not to fight for the resistance side.
3 - All the regions will be back through RWs, no direct attacks. eSpain will coordinate the liberation of this regions through RWs.
4 - This NAP is subject to monthly renewals by the CPs of both countries.
*
As NAPs go, this one has real merit. Spain ARE NOT extorting payment for ceding regions back to Canada, they ARE NOT demanding multiple roads to their capital, plus the monthly renewal allows each new Canadian government to review and potentially reject this treaty at any point in the future, a move which is written into and secured by the proposal. So its not as if Canada is tying itself down if they accept this offer.
The perception that this is a “surrender” to Spain is entirely wrong. Firstly, since when has signing an NAP been considered a "surrender"? Spain signed one with the eUS when it was wiped/near-wiped by BrUSA and no one thought Spain were "surrendering" at the time. Secondly, that NAP set Spain and BrUSA on the road to improved relations, and its this relationship which is a contributing factor -- probably the main factor -- to eSpain securing 10/10 bonuses. Alliances are polarising institutions in this game, NAPs are one means to evolve past that form of tribalism and develop mutually beneficial relations with perceived "enemies". BrUSA and Spain did it after been locked in combat for months, and all sides profited from it. No doubt Spain and Canada can do the same.
NAPs based on material resources are the future of this game, they're overtaking the bonds alliances are supposed to provide. The days of alliances based on empty slogans like "loyalty", "brotherhood" etc. are behind us, and can't be used to justify opposition to this NAP (an NAP that countries like France or Germany would grab with both hands) simply because its with a perennial enemy like Spain.
It should also be noted that Spain are pro-CoT, and have excellent relations with some CoT countries. So signing this NAP shouldn't harm Canada's chances with that alliance, indeed quite the reverse.
*
In conclusion:
If Canada say NO to this NAP eSpain has the damage/allies to keep Canada wiped permanently. As long as the treaty between the eUS and eSpain holds (and it will!) these are the facts Canada must work with.
If Canada say YES to this NAP they regain nine regions, get their full indigenous resources back, secure their congress for the foreseeable future, get one of the strongest nations off their back and also get an NAP with this nation.
This proposal should be viewed as Spain trying to normalise relations with Canada, something that a lot of old enemies are doing across the globe.

Let me thank those for their continued work on this project. I know you are trying. However, this is not a deal I can support. I would prefer to fight on for ALL of Canada.

vote NO .. whatever treaty Spain have with the States won't last : )
They signed it in 2011 if I'm not mistaken Maxwell, and it withstood the collapse of CTRL, I'd say its hear to stay...
yea i know, potentially eUS might have to fight Hungary and Serbia, they will need Spain to help at least in Europe, the fact that they are tied up in Canada is not in their interest thats why they come up with this NAP, they should just withdraw : ) or we will keep fighting
So Spain will help in Europe wars.
Well laid out, but at the end of the day, we are denied our ability to gain our country back. If they want regions, let them take NFLD and be happy with that.
Voted. If we don't sign this we are fools.

A yes vote makes sense. Canada is back on the map and you can always revoke the NAP at any stage with a month's notice should the situation change. I wish Poland was as sensible.
getfo my country
I'm still voting NO - if Spain wants to improve their image they should withdraw from those regions unilaterally - the situation would eventually evolve into a NAP and it would allow eCanada to save face by not being seen as capitulating in order to regain its regions - like it or not, that's just the way it is
Feels like eSpain is just trying to whether the coming month. When they have the ability to they could always retake the regions even if eCanada wants to "renew" the NAP.
But, having a month of our regions back is better than nothing considering we can't hold our regions even if we wanted to.
Our main priority is getting into CoT. Nothing else really matters because this game is governed by fight power. And since the above NAP agreement is so flimsy either side can choose not to renew it.
I say take the month, keep pushing the CP's baby-boom, and prioritize our joining of CoT.

Thanks for the link. No CoT huh... well at least everything else is looking good so far. 😃
If we sign this we won't have a border with anyone other than US (and Spain) which means basically we can sit in our corner of North America and rot.
a united Canada is the only Canada I want.
What is the point of having half a country? Will they keep us wiped "forever"? Possibly, but Spain may need to rid itself of one enemy to prepare for other bigger fights.
I don't mind being a thorn in their side...

You have 9/13 core regions and you don't have to pay anything, this treaty is so much better than Poland-France treaty.
