[DoD] Insight: Resistance Wars

Day 2,017, 06:07 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Department of Defence

Citizens of eIreland,
Below is an educational article on game mechanisms involved in Resistance Wars and how you fit in, but first lets reiterate the DoD's advise for this occupation;

1) Complete DO and save Energy Bars
2) Move to an allied country and fight against TWO in all fronts.
3) Await DoD instructions for Resistance Wars against the United Kingdom.
4) DO NOT start a RW in Ireland without DoD approval - It will fail.

Basic information: A Resistance War (RW) is a battle which can take place once 10 players commit 1000 IEP to a 'Support a Resistance War' interface on homepage when a player is located in a region which the current owner is not the original owner of that region.

Availability: Once an original region of Country A is conquered by Country B, there is a 24 hour period before a RW can be supported in that region. It is possible for Country B to take another region before the 24 hour delay period in the first conquered region finishes, but the newly conquered region does not share the same 24 hour delay countdown; A separate 24 hour countdown will begin for the 2nd conquered region before a RW can be supported there.

There can only be 1 RW per occupied country. Ireland has more than 1 region under British occupied, but we can only start 1 Resistance at any one time in Irish regions. But if the UK had conquered a region in Canada, then a RW could be started in Canada as well as Ireland.

How do you fit in: Once the 24 hour delay has passed, if you are located in the conquered region, you will have an option on the homepage to 'Support' a RW by depositing 1000 IEP. If 10 players support a RW in Region A, before 10 players support a RW in Region B, then those who supported a RW in Region B will have their 1000 IEP deposit returned to them.

Those who successfully support a Resistance War (i.e. those who deposit 1000 IEP and start a battle) will have to wait 7 days before they can support another RW regardless of previous RW's outcome. But those who are unsuccessful to start a RW (i.e. those who deposit 1000 IEP but do not start a battle) can support another RW as soon as they become available.

Tactical considerations: It has been said that the ability to Support a Resistance War comes 24 hours after a region has been conquered, but if a previous RW is lost by the occupied country, then another RW can not be started until 24 hours after that RW was lost. If a previous RW was won, then the normal support mechanism applies - whether or not 24 hours has passed since a region was conquered.

This is incredibility important!
If you start a Resistance War which eIreland is not prepared to take part in, and we lose, it will take another 24 hours before another Resistance War can be started. An example of this was this Dail election; A resistance war was started 13 hours ahead of schedule which meant supply channels were not open at the beginning of the battle - and due to the timing of the RW, victory or defeat meant Ireland would not hold a region long enough (or at all) in time for Dail elections.

Follow the DoD's advise - if you become impatient, starting a RW without national support is the worst/counter-productive show of patriotism you have at your disposal. Send the DoD org an angry letter or do drugs, but DO NOT start a RW without the DoD supporting you.

Signed,
Seanan
