[CPF] Not An Apology
Randall Flagg 1999
First and foremost, read this if you want a review of what the CPF has been up to.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/cpf-and-congress-for-the-nov-dec-term-2175850/1/20
Now, a few things for this article; it is a two parter, the first part deals with Foxfire, the second is some quick party business.
In regards to Foxfire, my last article has been seen by some as a slanderous attack on Foxfire. That was not the point of the article. It was however, meant to be a loud censure of both the executive’s and congress’ handling of the current UK situation. I have worked with Foxfire before and I know he does mean well. He is a first time CP and I understand mistakes will be made. This however does not mean he will not be scrutinized for his actions. Whether his actions are proved right or wrong, he should expect flak.
Now that war is upon us, I encourage all eCanadians to hunker down with as many guns and energy bars as they can as I predict this war will not be over by Christmas. I have encouraged Foxfire to keep his military advisors close to help guide the best campaign possible given our situation. So keep your eyes on the Ministry of Defenses Battle Orders and we may get through this yet.
Mooseing around
As for the CPF itself, I first want to thank the party for another mandate, even stronger than last time (64% to 77😵
This result tells me that you have seen the work our congress members have done and want to see more this term, and I will oblige. I am also working on new Moose Calls to replace the old ones to keep everyone abreast of what we are up to. However, this term I intend to update it at the half way mark as well.
In other news I have promoted Michael 23 to my VP. He has shown himself to be both dedicated and reliable. He shows a deep understanding of what the CPF stands for as can be seen in the article posted at the beginning of this one. He will be of great help in finalizing the roster for congress elections.
And on a final note, something which I will be starting within the next day is a review of the 7 tenets. Not because I believe they need to be changed, but rather a healthy reflection on how they fit into the current party and if any adjustments actually need to be made. Personally I believe there are only two tenets that need to be reviewed (#3 and #6). But perhaps with a wider input from the part I can get a feel for your concerns.
Until next time, keep on Mooseing in the Moose world.
1. Uphold the equality of all active Military Units
2. Make the accounting of government funding more open and important
3. Ensure Canada is a reliable and selfless ally
4. To respect, recognize and uphold the supremacy of the mechanics of the game
5. Develop a positive political sphere
6. Bring in Canadians to eRepublik
7. To encourage growth and stability to the eCanadian economy.
Comments
#6 always left me wondering why a party would only want RL Canadians in a game and not just bring any person to the game who is willing to play for the team. Perhaps I was looking too closely at the wording.
#3 seems like a sound idea in a war game. Perhaps it is too broad? Reliable makes sense. Selfless is more of a short-term thing as eCanada regains its reputation and a position in an alliance. I'm sure we can be greedy for ally support later on.
You know what would be cool...to have each tenet (a long-term value developed/supporte/maintained over many months) supported by a short-term (month-to-month according to PP) set of goals that each PP or Congress team can advance as a specific objective.
The tenets lack teeth if they sit there without any action tied to them. Motivating the membership to get something done according to each tenet (or perhaps just 3 per month) would make them relevant.
For example, "#1 Equality of MUs" would have been this month (for example) to enact a new MU Funding Act that improves on or maintains the equal standing of MUs in the old Funding Act. This was not the objective for CPF, yet luckily, the Temp Funding Act was pushed through by Homer/MDP, which maintained the equal standing of MUs. Others wanted to stratify the funding process and CPF SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE to keep this from happening. As such, the First Tenet was overlooked/lost relevance.
Anyway, to get back to my point, it would be cool if each long-term tenet had a short-term (monthly) objective attached to it. That way each PP could set a few goals, have Congress aim for them in their legislations, and then evaluate which objectives were reached in the PP term.
This month mock goals
#1:Renew funding act, maintain equality in funding
#3😛rioritize MPPs to cut expenses and maintain active battles/advance alliance membership talks
#7:Balance tax rate with MU Funding
I agree with your idea of having short term goals attached to the tenets. What you're saying is essentially what I have been tossing around in my head the past few days, but haven't been able to put to words. Though in terms of MU equality, this is something which in retrospect, I should have also mentioned as needing to be reflected upon. personally I believe that it refers not to the funding they receive, but rather that we should not treat the differently.
The only reason funding is different is that larger MU's have more people that need tending too. That said, the increase in revenues will allow to give ALL MU's more money, including the little guys. That I think is the core of that tenet. That we value all MU's
Yes, 'equality of all active Military Units' is open for interpretation. Except for funding them, what other interaction does Congress or the Govt have with MUs?
I remember reading suggestions during the Funding Act dicussion that people wanted to create one national MU that would get singularly funded. This idea seems to conflict with Tenet #1 even if you take out the funding involved.
Great to hear you have been considering the use of short-term goals based on the tenets. o7
If ya ain't using it, you're losing it
