[CP] The Battle of the Alliances & Election day

Dear eBelgians,

In this article I will briefly explain you what happpened in the past 4 or 5 days. What is more, there is an important information about the Congress elections in the end of it. Please vote and shout the aritlce , so more people could read it and be informed about the current state of affairs of eBelgium.



What is the Battle of the Alliances?

“Hear ye, hear ye!
The challenge is about to begin! The New World will be in flames sooner than you expect. We present you the Battle of the Alliances! For one week you will be able to give your best damage to your alliance and make it count in a global contest.

The country presidents will enroll your country in the competition by following the instructions specified in the private message they received. After we finalize the lists, a ranking with the total generated damage will be displayed (updated once per day) in game and it will present the status of your alliance in the competition based on the dealt damage.
Each country president received a private message where he was asked to specify the alliance of his country. The CPs will have time until 1739 at 00:00 eRep to enrol their country in the challenge.
If a CP did not specify the alliance of his country by the time the poll ends, that country will not be part of the challenge.
After the poll ends the lists of the alliances will be published on the blog, and you will have to start preparing the troops. The dawn of war will set foot in eRepublik on 1742 00:00 eRep and will end 1749 00:00 eRep.
More details on how the damage will be counted and the rewards of the contest will be published on our blog on day 1739, along with the lists of the participant countries and their alliances.

Plato announced the contest in Tuesday, 21st of August. As you may know, most players were not satisfied by it, and almost immediately an alliance was created - Fraternal Union of Countries and Kingdom - Unofficial. Its main purpose was to troll Plato and would last only during the contest - “"This is the answer of the countries from whole eWorld for Plato's Battle of the Alliances contest. This union is in order to win the contest, and will be disbanded shortly after the challenge."(a quote from its treaty)

What is more, I had agreed (by I mean Belgium, I had discussed it with the government and they agreed it is a good move) to take part in that alliance, because we stood a very good chance of winning the contest. By the end of Tuesday, more than 20 countries agreed to take part in that alliance (both TEDEN and ONE oriented).

However, Plato literally striked back by revealing the following (less than 14 hours before the deadline!):

"Mutual Protection Pacts will be enabled between the members of the aliances participating in the contest. No law or fee will be required. Example: If countries A,B,C join Alliance X, a Mutual Protection Pact between A-B, B-C, A-C will be activated. If a Mutual Protection Pact already exists it will be extended by one month. The Mutual Protection Pacts will be auatomatically activated during the first day of the contest."

As I expected, the unofficial alliance started the fall apart. By the end of the day (Thursday), I was approached by several representatives of other nations to engage a new alliance (which purpose is to unite friendly countries and yet again it will be disbanded as soon as the challenge ends). By that time I could not know how many countries will stay in the unofficial alliance, and therefore I could not predict if we would not end stucked in it with contradicting MPPs.

In addition, rumours that we might be attacked very, very soon are spreading around. I had to take into consideration the fact that if it happens, we will need some kind of protection and security - and there was no better way to have it than taking part in an alliance (different than that of the aggressor) and getting MPPs for free.

That is why I agreed (I had discussed it with my government and turned to the Congress for an advice beforehand) Belgium to take part in Friendship Over Everything during the contest -

Yes, we might not win the contest. But in the end, in case of a sudden attack, we will have 15 MPPs (signed for free) to rely on.

If you are not sure who to vote for, I would love it if you follow the instructions, set by the Government 🙂 However, you are free to choose to or not to do it.

Legend

1. The candidates, “coloured” in red, are considered as a possible PTO threat by the government and the Immigration Ministry and therefore it is not recommended to vote them
2. The candidates, “coloured” in Green are prioritized by the Party Presidents to get in Congress (they are considered as a really valuable asset to eBelgium/its Congress). Those candidates will be announced with the time passing on the election day.
3. The candidates, “coloured” in Blue are safe and have enough votes to get in Congress. There is no point to waste a vote on them 😉

Also, I would like to kindly ask all of our future members of Congress to donate a part of their Congress medal to the state. Note: It is not your obligation to do it, but it would be very nice of you to help the state, since we all benefit of it 🙂
