[CP] Recent Advances *Updated

Day 2,443, 02:52 Published in Ireland Ireland by Seanan

Friends,

This term hasn't completely gone as I planned. While the war with Canada, the Portuguese intervention and tumbling of the United Kingdom has so far been the highlight, most of my domestic projects and further military ambitions have stalled due to my lack of time to push them. Two weeks ago I lost a friend and buried him this weekend, and I only tell the community this as I hope to convey that going forward my priorities will be regaining normality and that is unlikely to include any heavy involvement in eRepublik. The rest of the term will be dedicated to maintaining our major successes in Foreign Affairs, but the big glory will have to be another's.

Recent Advances
* Updated - Aurora HQ says there would be opportunities for Ireland to Airstrike within Alliance military plans. This is encouraging as the confirmation gives us reason to begin fund raising.

* Amiable relation with Canada and Portugal; the motivation which led to the initial negotiations with Canada for a war were for the benefit of both our nations in the recent Tournament. While agreed terms with Canada fell through due to UK's attempt to block us and misgivings from the outgoing Canadian CP, our incursion into Canada and defense against Portugal ended as a jolly re-union/brawl between persisting friends and old allies.

* Instability in our neighbour the United Kingdom; Our relations with the United Kingdom have been cooperative for the sake of our alliances, but following their attempt to block our War Game with Canada, my Government started looking more closely at their political scene. Currently, my stance is that the United Kingdom should be viewed with caution by Aurora and Sirius due to the prevailing Serbian PTO, monthly treasury robberies and the zealot factionalism within their political scene.

Irish intervention in the Isles continues to keep drainage incursions by Asteria and LETO under wraps, whilst Poland maintains a strong and noticeable deterrent to any major offensives - whilst the United Kingdom continues to be an unpredictable international partner, the Irish nation should be thankful to Poland for the continuing presence of Sirius in this region.

* New but familiar faces in Aurora and Sirius HQs; in our own alliance, I had the pleasure of voting in HQ elections which led to Vesk0P as Secretary General and Severrus Snape as Supreme Commander. As many know, Vesk0P was one of Ireland's best MoFAs and pushed our Ambassador program with real zeal. Severrus Snape is best known by his comrades in the Irish Army for fine soldiering and absolute commitment to mobile orders... a great solider in the Army, a great Commander in Macedonia and now Aurora.

In our partner alliance, Sirius has elected Pierre Dzoncy as Secretary General. Other there, he is their hope of greater cooperation with Aurora due to his previous long standing as an official in Aurora. Certainly our community will have known him as an Irish official in Aurora, and a member of Labour's Army.

* Setting a new precedent in a Ambassador program: This was a personal objective coming into office. Kordak, my Director of Ambassies, has been instrumental in organizing and enlisting Ambassadors to achieve greater Irish clarity of international politics.

The role of ambassadors has often been viewed as a "entry-level" to higher political positions and a nicety in an overall effort by the Department of Foreign Affairs - certainly, even last term the program as dropped in place of focusing on Ministers and Deputies as advocates of the Irish cause. Often ambassadors would be charged with producing some "fun-fact sheets" or CP interviews for the Department's PR outputs... I say this is a waste of the role. Current agents under Kordak are charged with information gathering on key individuals, understanding a nation's political will and objectives, locating PTO groups and connecting the dots. All in the pursuit of giving the Ministers in Foreign Affairs the best information available to hit pressure points in exchanges with Foreign governments - the initial pilot has been promising and led to actual diplomatic successes.

That's all for now,
