[CP] NoTie III: End of Season Two

Day 2,358, 11:31 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Het Catshuis

In a few hours my presidential mandate will end, but not before I give out this healthy report of what your government has done and achieved in it's month of rule. Consider this to be the end term report of NoTie III and I invite you to review the ups and downs our nation has seen over the last month. Overall, I'm very proud of my term and am of the fullest confidence it has a laid good patchwork for my successor(s) to continue on.

War with Norway
Of course, the main event my term will remembered for is the war with our northern neighbour Norway. I can subtly say that (most probably) the eNetherlands has never embarked at such an ambitious campaign, nor fought a war for so long. And we have shown to be more than capable of it, though there have been some hard learned lessons which have refined out war capabilities for in the future.

We decided to attack the Norwegians after they launched an invasion, in cooperation with the French, on allied Britain. We marched through Southern Norway, cut off their supplies and access to the United Kingdom and have ever since drained a lot of our enemies forces in support of other campaign in Scandinavia. Approval by our allies have been shown by priorities and Campaign of the Days (a feat with the eNetherlands has hardly achieved over the past year(s), except prioritized abused Resistance Wars by our enemies to harass our allies). Currently, the current administration is looking for possible ways to close the war with Norway.

Sadly, the joy and excitements of the fruitful war have been polluted by sad episodes every now and then. We have seen Dutch citizens, feeling allegiance towards Norway, fighting actively against our nation and a recent scandal broke out when one of our governmental members spied for the eNorway. These isolated incidents have been propagandised by eNorwegian individuals to weaken the war efforts of our nation. I can't and won't accept this attack on our sovereignty and I call out the citizens to do neither, despite their approval of the government of their actions. Also, I've seen worrisome comments by some people suggesting that several groups (e.g. GPN and/or PG) are possibly traitorous, which I strongly oppose and refuse, as we've seen them fight just as patriotically as every other citizen.

Defence Reforms
A first set of hard needed, sometimes controversial, reforms have been introduced in the defence department. First of all, a decision has - finally - been made to start a massive investment project into our communes which had been in talks for months without result. In a few months time almost all our citizens will be able to work in a state commune and receive adequate supplies for his work. The administration of our current communes has already been improved and new jobs have been opened up and filled in.

We also decided to merge the various shattered military units into one central one, to improve results and activity of one centralized unit (which is helpful in for example National Tournaments and other events, but also for managing state defence resources). It's name and appearance has been refurbished too, as it is known as Dutch Armed Forces (DAF). Lastly it's leadership has been more directly related to the government, making state efforts more useful and efficient. Still, there's a lot to be gained in this field. The war with Norway has shown that the eNL has grown out of touch with actual war, in which the forces need to reactive 24/7. Possible solutions include rotating command or the use of our stocked Military Units for Combat Order purposes.

Aurora
As stated earlier we've received a lot of international attention and support over the last month, most notably of our Aurora and allied-Sirius nations. The eNetherlands earlier voted for entry into Aurora in an official referendum so this has worked out well for our intentions to approach Aurora. Our MoFA team has established excellent relations with (Aurora) allies and our chances to join the alliance are looking a lot better than they were right after the eNetherlands voiced their wish to join Aurora. I quote my Aurora Representative, MaartenW - who replied on a question in Congress about our current status with Aurora:

To me it's almost certain we will be accepted within Aurora, we are working close together and most of our battles have been Aurora #1 prio's at some point.

Last term we had a meeting with all country representatives of Aurora, in this meeting it was made clear that a lot of Aurora's members knew little about the current state of our country. This month our MoFA team has been doing all they can to step by step show this to them. According to the Aurora charter countries first have a trial period of minimally 1 and maximally 3 months, in a few days there should be voted wherever we will receive trial membership or not.

The referendum was only a really clear indication of what alliance direction our population wants, there will be another official referendum before we become a full member (as laid down in the Aurora charter.)

At last

There a lot of minor things which I didn't elaborate on in this article. These things include like the refurbishment of our embassies at our national forums, review of foreigners status in the eNetherlands, the series of excellent interviews with Aurora nations by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and adjustments to our financial administration. There are also some projects which I didn't get to this term, but will definitely work on next month with the less chaotic and demanding position of Vice President. These include loans for upgrades (plans are already in Congress), a national library of our history (a begin has been made by myself) & the set-up of a constitutional rewrite (with our constitutional expert Viglius in the next governmental team, it should proceed a lot easier).

Kind regards,

NoTie112,
President of the eNetherlands
