Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,
What an election it was. In a contested battle (the first one in months) my opponent Arcanic Mindje lead the polls all through the day, but at the end of the voting round we managed to pull through. Thanks to the eNetherlands for their votes and thanks to Arcanic Mindje for the good battle he put up.

I just wanted to make one remark about the previous elections. Some people on the side of Arcanic Mindje lowered themselves to a smearing campaign against me - with hollow remarks about protecting ''Democracy'' by voting against me (which means a democratic legitimation, hence it being a ridiculous propaganda scheme). No one has the right to proclaim democracy or the moral high ground over someone else. The voters spoke their mind, and in this case I turned out to be the winner on the ballot, but it might as well have been Arcanic Mindje. Nothing dramatic about it at all.

Finding a Government
With yet more people of the old-guard leaving and several individuals boycotting the elections, finding a government was yet again a tedious matter. But once again I managed to find a willing team to serve our country together with me. GoddessOfDesire will be my Vice President. Known as jkli5_ to many, he recently entered the eNetherlands (he had an extensive political career in eSwitzerland) and has shown high interest in the eNetherlands and their people. Besides that, he will also be my Minister of Defense for this month. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a key to the success of my government and hope my trust in some fresh faces in the Government will pay off.

Gwom will lead the Ministry of Home Affairs. What else can we say about this? He has shown to be a highly stable and dedicated member of the eNetherlands. Kordak will return this month as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Knowing that he is a controversial choice for this post, I fully trust him to serve us well with the expertise he has gained in the Country President/MoFA posts not only in the eNetherlands, but also in Ireland and in several international alliances (like Aurora) - something we can greatly use in our new membership in the alliance of Orion. Lastly, Trannsvaal will be the Minister of Finances. It may seem an obvious choice, but Trannsvaal has urged to be replaced as soon as possible and may not be around for the full term.

The Overall Situation
There are a few things we need to consolidate from previous terms. Primarily we will wrap up our Orion Trial-Membership, be it as full members or (sadly) booted out due to not getting 100% approval. Nevertheless our short membership of Orion so far already bore some fruit. We are in close contact with all members of Orion - international cooperation not seen in the eNetherlands since perhaps the days of EDEN (long, long ago). The war with the United Kingdom will probably be wrapped up soon. We are not in the fight directly any more, but France is - and we gotta fight as hard for them as we'd do for our own fronts. Notably, Canada is still under the cruel occupation of both foreign nations and a foreign government that entered rule in a coup d'etat. It's not far fetched to think we'll be active there very soon.

I'd rather pick someone active or IRC than ingame tbh. active in both places is obviously better.

active on irc is good. but if that person isn't really "alive" in-game what is the point?

Funny remarks odan. In the past several politicians were accused, by me among others, of not knowing the game as they were inactive in it. Several players told me there was no need as that what really matters happened on IRC. Mainly I&W members. And no it wasn't you that I remember doing so.
That said; I do agree with you gov and congress members do need to take part in the game itself at full to know what's going on as several have shown to not get the real issues due to their focus on IRC/Forum. Not saying IRC is unimportant but it needs to be well balanced for optimum results. The game having highest priority.

@weekstrom there is a difference between not talking on feeds/articles/etc. and actually not logging into the game.

We are talking about a new citizen on a (kind of) irrelevant position who has shown interest in proving herself. Can we please not be so judgemental out of spite?

Indeed odan. Exactly what was the case in the past where I commented on. Added to that; Logging in and train/work and log out wont help you understand either so as a politician you need to do way more although it depends on the type off position which kind of other in game activities are needed.

@weekstrom well the case you mention doesn't ring a bell. but then again it's probably a long time ago so not surprising 😉 and well many things in certain departments can and are done almost exclusively on irc.

@Notie a new player is all fine and well, but shouldn't that player actually play the game? or is logging in once a week enough for you?

Surprisingly close call. Congratz!

I feel some deja vu. The kind off discussions starting to develop remind me on a time we had in the past. A time where non issues and dirty politics thrived and ruined the game for a lot of players including myself when it comes to politics. I hope it ends before we have to relive those times....
