[BRNews] Polish Immigration in Brozil

Day 1,772, 15:52 Published in Poland Brazil by SEP II

Hello mates,

Today I will bring more information about the RL Polish immigration in Brazil, that is significant, since that estimated more than 3.5 million descendants of polish here in Brazil (Im one of those 😃 ).

As I told in past articles, major part of poles immigrants are in the South Region of Brazil, but I was surprised when I checked about this a little bit more. Most of poles descendants are in the region that I live!

Between 1841 and 1971, it is estimated that almost 60,000 Polessettled in Brazil and 60% of whom settled in Paraná. In this State (State is like the województwa in Poland) Poles found a lot of cities like Mallet, Castro, Ponta Grossa, Cruz Machado, São Mateus do Sul, Irati (my hometown), Apucarana and União da Vitória.

The first large wave of immigrants came to the State of Espirito Santo (Holy Spirit), in 1841, with about 300 families, but today, the major number of Poles immigrants lives today in Curitiba (Capital of State of Paraná and the city where I live) and the cities around it like Lapa, Ponta Grossa, Castro, Irati.

Curitiba is the second city outside of Poland with the largest number of people of Polish origin, surpassed only by Chicago in the United States. Also, it is the only Brazilian city to have spelling in Polish language: Kurytyba.

I confess that I knew about the strong relationship between Brazil and Poland, but did not know that my city has a so huge loop with the Polish community. Looking around Curitiba (or Kurytyba hehehe) I saw that is true, some photos from our city Proves that:
