[Artela] [TUP] A Way Forward

Day 2,578, 13:30 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Artela

There are probably some who do not remember me from when I previously lived in the eUK. For those of you that this applies to let me introduce myself briefly. Prior to disappearing off to the eUSA I was a TUP PP and a TUP CP as well as being known for my involvement in our national military, being the MOD, and being SC of our alliance at that time.

When I left here for those new pastures the latest party media update read, in part, as follows:

Giving young players the support to become self-sufficient should be our new, ambitious target. This comes in the form of advice, community, and financial backing where possible. TUP is a tight-knit gamer community, and the people who are active in our forums/IRC are like family. Nobody would hesitate to lend money, or support their fellow players. We offer each other stuff at discount, we share business ownership, start up new companies together, share in the profit.

TUP is more than just a way to get elected to congress. Yes there is a political element to the party. But unique amongst all the parties, we are a true gaming clan, with a gaming heritage going back to our founding fathers. We support each other financially, in the media, even militarily. We play other games together. Over the years I’ve seen advice given from members to other members on everything from which course to do at university to instructions on how to properly drink scotch (no ice, like a man). Our members are all ages, all inclusive. We have people still at school, we have teachers. We have university students and even the odd closet lecturer. We have business managers and employees. Coders and people like me who see programming as heathen magic.

Whatever you want from this game, joining TUP and actually getting involved is probably one of the best decisions you will ever make. Due to our unique structure, we not only have a large roster of current members, we also have our “e😜at” members who are abroad in other parties, or who have left the game altogether. Once you join the TUP family, you join that community. Wherever you go in later eLife, you’re still welcome with us.

And now I’m back, although even while abroad I always still considered myself part of the family of Unity (and was even in the MU for a while).

It seems the party changed a fair bit in my absence. We have gone from a party of pragmatism and game mechanics and calling out underperformers, to one of supporting people just purely because they belong to our party regardless of their talent or ability.

This needs to change.

We need to be the party of sanity in the eUK. The party that knows and uses game mechanics. The party that ensures all are pulled up for incompetence (no matter which party they are in). The party that ensures that the nation can be kept on an even keel long enough to make the eUK actually matter once more on the international stage. The party of national stability.

We need to be proud of our party, and make sure that others aspire to join us because we are the best at what we do, not just because we are the largest party.

All the best
