[Appleby] CP Debate & Societal Reform

Day 2,840, 08:49 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Sir Humphrey Appleby

Afternoon gents o7, hope all is well

With fresh Country Presidential elections round the corner I thought I might resurrect the traditional debate between the main candidates for eDowning Street. We have seen a lot of societal change over the past several months - from democracy to a cabal dictatorship, back to a democracy then coup’d into a hostile dictatorship; finally settling on the constitutional dictatorship we have today. From these developments there have been several important rediscoveries about how a community can change their societal structure from generic cabalism to the current rule of law.

Such a shift is symbolic of greater trust and co-operation between the main contributing political parties; that each group will co-exist peacefully in mutual respect and common purpose. Even a year ago the idea of a community agreement enshrined in ‘law’ would’ve been dismissed as unenforceable, particularly with the average state of Congress then. Whilst they’re not much better now they are at least occasionally sensibly reaching accords beneficial to most…

But there is a lot more that could be done. There have been several interesting suggestions from the community recently - my favourite being the potential independence of the Bank of England, now made possible with the Constitution. Reform of government structure to make it more inclusive and transparent is another obvious consideration that will no doubt be reflected on by both CP candidates as more and more people give their thoughts on how they would like to see the community step forward.

I hope the upcoming debate will allow either candidate to elaborate on their electoral message and for us humble citizens to hear and reflect on it! Will post an update when we’ve agreed a date and time.

Feel free to post some questions you’d like to see asked 🙂
