Why I will be voting for HarrisonRichardson on July 5th
PigInZen
Thanks for reading this and giving what I am about to write some thought.
Let me being by stating for the record that I'm not a supporter of Harrison's "tradition pictures" - his closing pictures of scantily-clad women pulled from major men's magazines in RL. Now, in my RL I am active in Diversity Training. Much of Diversity Training revolves around increasing people's awareness that other people may not be just like them and may not come to the same conclusions as one does based upon personal experience. While I might personally enjoy an occasional viewing of Megan Fox, I can completely understand why someone else won't. This may be due to real life experiences or closely held personal beliefs that shape their world view. To me, it's an extension of the reasoning that one doesn't crack racist or sexist jokes - it's insensitive.
I would hope that eUSA citizens would put aside their objections to or approval of this issue and consider Harrison's unique qualifications to be President of the eUSA. I have done so. I have had the opportunity to work for HarrisonRichardson at the eUS State Department as both Under Secretary of State for Developing Regions and eUS Ambassador to Turkey. In the course of my daily duties I have grown to understand that Harrison takes a pragmatic and realist approach to his responsibilities as Secretary of State. I find this approach to be refreshing and instrumental to his effectiveness.
The eUS State Department revolves around two subgroups - Harrison's group of close advisors, of which I am a member along with LexLuthor1, qkoller, ProggyPop, Chris Stanwick and OneEye, and the Congress' Foreign Affairs Committee, also known as FRAC. Harrison relies upon these subgroups to provide him both with information that he would not normally be privy to in the course of his daily duties and with advice about current world events. Harrison believes in building a consensus-based approach to policy development. Such an approach prevents emotion-based and rash decisions from being made and is quite reassuring to both our allies and the rest of the eRepublik nations.
Finally, the eUS President's responsibilities are setting an agenda for domestic affairs through law proposal and conducting foreign affairs. Foreign Affairs dominates most of what the President does from day to day. HarrisonRichardson's experience as Secretary of State gives him a unique advantage over the other candidates and electing him as eUS President would give the eUS full access to both that experience and the personal knowledge he earned over the past several months. I would like you to seriously consider voting for HarrisonRichardson for President on July 5th if you have not yet firmly decided for whom you will vote. I will be more than happy to elaborate on my experiences working for HR in the State Department if anyone would like for me to do so. You can find me in IRC (handle: PigInZen), at the eUS and USWP forums or via PM here in eRep.
Vote for HR. Thanks for your time.

Good article. Keep up the good work.
Well written article, Pig.
HR for President!
Emerick is great
Thanks, DF. We all like Emerick, even me. 🙂
Vote another Kennedy to presidency!
A person's character is much more important than their policies. Pictures
people use here say a lot about their character. I would vote for Emerick
myself if I hadn't to have first joined the Party that endorses HR.
I am really ashamed of my Party at this point. If you want to look at those
kinds of pictures, that is certainly your choice. But, if you want to be
taken seriously as a candidate, don't put them in the same place with
you campaign promises, or any other articles representing your Party
or government!! It not only makes you look bad, it makes the Party look
bad. Also, just to be clear, I am NOT speaking on behalf of others in my
Party. My opinions are my own.
Clairee, thanks for the comment. I do not disagree and have communicated this to HR. Obviously you are free to vote for whomever you want and for whatever reason you find. Just because your party has endorsed him doesn't mean you have to vote for him. I'd encourage you to in spite of your concerns, however. Thanks again.
Zen,
You're a thoughtful writer. You deserve more subscribers. Count me in as one.
I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of players of this game fall in the range of 15-25 year old straight men... people who would appreciate those pictures. I'm gay myself and don't give a flying flipperdoodle about them, but I can't see how they're offensive considering they're exactly the the same sort of fleshly delights one sees on television or on the news stand every day in the real world.
Are we as a nation so priggish, so puritanical, that we can't stand the sight of a beautiful body? Let's rejoice that the Universe has given us corporeal forms in which to play, is what I say!
Anyway, we have a choice between Harrison and his slightly naughty pictures and Emerick the homophobe. From my point of view it's an easy choice.
"I would vote for Emerick myself if I hadn't to have first joined the Party that endorses HR."
Uh, wow. What a great reason 😕
It'd be really cool if we could get some clash between HR and Emerick. Can they have a debate too? Can this one not be the political equivalent of a rap battle?
Emerick is great...
