Why did I withdraw from PP election?

Day 2,579, 11:11 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Madelina de Melrose

When I threw my hat in the ring for PP of TUP, there were only a couple others standing, and they were ones I either didn't know or wasn't about to support. I had hoped VoodooMike71 would stand again, but some real life stuff is keeping him off the slate this month.

Then came a rash of candidates, including two I know who would do an excellent job. I don't need to be in a spotlight - I am just as happy working for the party from the sidelines. So rather than dilute the vote and risk having another PTO (political takeover) by a certain MU, I withdrew my candidacy.

After some considerable thought, I will be supporting Bohemond for PP. Yes, he's one of the "old elite" - but he was one of the best, has an incredible amount of experience, knows how the system works, etc, etc, etc. And he has been one of the most open and welcoming of the "oldfags", as they are often called. It was he who helped me a great deal when I was still trying to figure out the basics, and he who encouraged me to become more involved in the party. So anyone who wants to accuse him of trying to keep the doors closed to newcomers really hasn't a clue what they're talking about.

Meanwhile I would like to see our newer members showing interest in the political system and getting involved. New people means new ideas - some good, some not so, but all worthy of consideration. We need to kick some life back into TUP - the eUK - eRep. And it'll be our newer players who bring that life!
