Whoring for Damage

Day 2,259, 16:44 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So let's talk, why don't we? I feel like it's been ages! How are you? How's the ekids? Yeah, yeah, good! Anyway, y'all saw what happened, didn't you? TWO is gone.

Yay! Happiness! Time for us to win, right? Well, it's not that easy, now is it? There's always a reason for an alliance falling apart. In this case, the 100/100 hungry powerhouses began clashing over resources after destroying their competition, and having issues over partitions. Additionally, Argentina helped pull Spain and thus Poland away from the rest. Finally, various internal forces looking for fun helped sever trust between the nations, and thus the flow of damage. There was no one battle to point to, but after Hungary got stopped by Singapore and pro-Indo forces, it's pretty clear that the alliance was done. It was done in all but name for months, but at last, the BS is over, and we can move on.

So how's this new world gonna play out? As it always has been, the game is more focused on hate more than friendship. Is this a creation of Plato and the game or a reflection of the human condition as a whole? You decide. But if it isn't obvious already, the new alliances will reflect the various grudges that everyone has.

Here were the rules that you could live by in this game.
Greece and Macedonia will be on opposite sides (as all the Greeks yell at me "IT'S FYROMMM")
Croatia will be accompanied by Albania and Bosnia, and will be bitter rivals with Serbia
Serbia, Montenegro, and Thailand will be on the same side
Argentina and Chile will be on opposite sides
Canada, Ireland, and France will be on the same side
Chile, Indonesia, Macedonia, and Bulgaria will be on the same side
Indonesia and Australia will be on opposite sides
Spain, Poland, Belgium, and UK will be on the same side
Hungary and Ukraine will be on opposite sides
Argentina and Brazil will be on opposing sides
Ireland and Croatia will be on the same side
UK and Ireland will be opposing sides
Italy and Switzerland will oppose Serbia and Slovenia
USA and Russia will be on the same side
Japan and South Korea will oppose Taiwan
Argentina has Colombia, Bolivia, and Uruguay as pals
Bulgaria will oppose Romania and Turkey
Asgard's trio will stick together, even if the alliance doesn't
And of course, USA and Serbia will be on the same side…wait that's not right

There's probably a few that I've left out, but this is basically it. Not every country has a best buddy to cling to, but every nation has someone they detest. Friendships can end when they're no longer beneficial (RIP Cromania) but hatred lasts for years until nations realize they need to stop being pissy pricks and get along to fight someone they hate together. Some rivalries have ended (Argentina and Chile), but that liberates them to hate new people. Let's assume that Serbia and Spoland are the power blocs for the new alliances. Here's a rough projection of how to build alliances and pro-powerthatdoesn'treallycareaboutyouandonlycaresaboutyourdamage groups.

Serbia
Enemies: Croatia, Albania, Bosnia, USA, Italy
These nations will automatically be on the opposing side unless they really want to get in Serbia's pants, and that's not likely ("It's okay, you can have Kosovo! 🙂" - no Serb or Albanian ever)

See how it works? Now let's do the same for Spain and Poland!
Spain
Enemies: Portugal, Canada, Argentina
Poland
Enemies: Netherlands, Germark, France, Canada
United Kingdom
Enemies: Norway, Ireland

So here's what you get so far
Serbia, Portugal, Canada, Argentina, Netherlands, Germark, France, Norway, Ireland
Spain, Poland, United Kingdom, USA, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia, Italy

Sometimes, you'll have two nations allying each other, but while one nation likes a third, the latter doesn't. This usually happens for small nations, and unfortunately for them, the big two nations usually end up working together and kicking the small to the curb. Very few instances when a big nation stands up for a smaller one and passes up more damage to support a friend. A shame, really.

So, now let's tack on the various allies and enemies that everyone has.
For Argentina and Brazil, treaties to potentially build the South American ABC (or for us Americans, the Argie3…no? okay) failed, so for now, assume that Brazil will oppose Argentina.
Serbia, Portugal, Colombia, Canada, Argentina, Netherlands, Germark, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, Montenegro, Slovenia, Belarus, United Arab Emirates
Spain, Poland, United Kingdom, USA, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia, Italy, Venezuela, Brazil, South Africa, Switzerland, Peru, Taiwan, Australia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Russia

Of course, at a glance, it's clear that there are some nations missing. Where's Greece? Indonesia?

There's a few more blocs to be organized, most importantly to settle the Greece-MKD war.
Greece-Romania-Turkey
MKD-Bulgaria-Indonesia

Try as hard as Chile does to say how much they're still subscribed to their old bros, there's enough of a rift that it's no longer automatic.

As Poland and Serbia are both begging Greece for their support to get one top 5 nation (polish my feet! serb me dinner!), whoever gets Greece and their cronies will get the other two (note: Turkey does have reservations versus Serbia but values Greece more), while the other alliance will act all gung ho and try to 'protect' the other trio, and happily take their damage. Let's see whether Colombia/Indonesia so-far peaceful treaty holds and impacts the outcome here.

There's Hungary, the nation in the middle that almost left TWO but stayed. They might go one way or the other, though they seem to be pro-Serb, and of course, wherever they go, Ukraine will go…the other way. They'll attract Slovakia and Austria as well.

And of course, there's the lovely China, always sitting on their thumbs and 100/100, munching on some Pocky while watching the world fall apart. Although their damage will go to EDEN nations, they have no reason to join an alliance to risk anything.

So my point? War will happen, and since hatred fuels war, the alliances will reflect how much butthurt we get over a game. Yay! WA222RRRRRR

Note: many technicalities to be organized as global politics tries to flip a nation or two over.

Until next time, take care!
