Whew - it was a wild ride!

Day 2,492, 09:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Madelina de Melrose

First of all, thank you, everyone who supported me - and more importantly, TUP - over the past two months as I tried to steer TUP back onto a steady course. There's no way I could have done it without a great team of people helping. VoodooMike71, Talon Karrde, hotfuz, Dan Moir, Bohemond4, NLSP, Aultman, Hugo Lilly, dougal4chaos, Paul Bates, Paul Tyndale, Brick Tamland and AxelDC (in no particular order) all worked hard for TUP and deserve our thanks.

Now for a bit of light entertainment! I'm running for Congress again. Why do I call it that? Last time I was in, the PTO gang - you can call me V (then known as Dan Dapper, and now likely with a new name) and co were in Congress and hellbent on making sure Congress couldn't function. We mostly discussed things using the messaging system - which they spammed up so badly it was a major chore to try to follow a line of thought. But with YOUR help, we showed those bad characters the door and told them they weren't welcome in the eUK government.

So maybe this time we'll actually accomplish something useful. Like... an immigration policy. We're at war with a bunch of countries, and one thing they'll do is to try to sneak people into ours to conduct espionage and sabotage. Then there are still a bunch of players who are only happy when they're wrecking things others made (I call them the eUK toddlers) and they're still trying to PTO us.

Of course we need a sound foreign affairs team. I will not be offering my services there as I think it would take a year or two of hard study to figure out what is going on, why and by whom. I don't have that sort of patience!

What really hits all of us in a tender part of our anatomy is our economic situation. Right now it's almost a waste of time to have our factories running. The only things worth running are the farms and mines, and factories only enough to meet one's own personal needs. What used to sell for a few pounds now sells for a few pence, less than the cost of manufacture. It is believed that prices have been brought down artificially low by those who wish the eUK harm, so we can't thrive and build up stocks of weapons. That has to be fixed. How? Darned if I know! But we do have some smart people who have a lot more experience with eUK economics, and I'll support them as they try to turn this around.

Finally, we need to rebuild trust between the parties (we've made a good start in the past two months) and the eUK population (without letting in the bad guys). How will we do this? Leading by example. Working to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect even as we debate opposing views. Showing to others that the eUK is the right place for adults (and those with adult behaviour) to enjoy the game.

And remembering that this is, in fact, only just a game. Isn't it?????
