TRP elections: Debate
Cavalcanti
Good night, dear citizens from eThailand.
I - a proud member of the Thailand Reform Party - would like to see a debate between the two more major candidates of the Presidency of TRP: Luis Carlos Prestes - the current president - and Ealb.
A fruitful debate between two candidates: without charges, without innuendo, without fights. Elections do not mean estrangement, but union.
The last elections for president of the TRP were very deteriorating to the party. On one side, Luis Carlos Prestes (co-founder of the party), the other zach4213, an illustrious unknown at the time.
Prestes won and now we are united and stronger than ever. But these party elections do not mean that we should go back to past disagreements.
I believe that a debate between the two major candidates for party presidency (Prestes and Ealb) would be good benefit for all members of the party.
As I said above, without accusations, insinuations and provocations. This debate serves only as a tool for the dissemination and sharing of ideas, not only candidates, but all members of the party.
Questions may be send for comments on this article. On 9 October I'll create a new article with all the questions and, depending on the candidates, we'll have their answers.
Regards,
Cavalcanti, first and foremost a citizen.

I like the idea and look forward to it. I think this is a very important election for your party as it will decide how some of us smaller parties will proceed and vote in the upcoming election.
Thank you Jack Roberts.
I am officially inviting the two candidates to participate the debate. 😁
I dont know how feasible this is, but we could always set up an IRC channel and have the debate there via chat. We could appoint one or two moderators and silence the people watching so they cant speak in public chat until the debate is over.
Only the moderators and the two candidates would have voice. If someone has a question they could submit it to a moderator and then the moderator could present it.
*shrugs* Just a thought.
And the post a log of it as a news article.
This is a great idea and we are hoping to hear the debate!
@Jack
That would be a marvelous idea, we just hope we can have power over idiots that may ruin it.
Hopefully the maturity level though is at its peak.
🙂
I love this idea, and now I am going to watch the Obama vs McCain debate
I like the idea Cavalcanti 🙂
I\'m ready for do it.
And Cavalcanti, I would like to propose a place and time for the debate, as we live in different countries, different time-zones.
First we have to analyze what would be a reasonable time where we could do this LIVE. If possible, it\'s ok we can talk through MSN, using the e-thai group, there will be a moderator, in case you (Cavalcanti), and only we two would talk.
In case we can\'t set the time, we can use our new forums, which would be a great way to attract new members, and will be open for all citizens. A topic would be created and you (Cavalcanti) would be the moderator and we would debate the same way. We can choice other moderator too, outside TRP.
I live in (Brazilia, Brazil). Usually enter the Internet during the night/afternoon. Now it\'s 18:30 (erepublik time). Here is 22:30.
Jack, unfortunatelly we tried to create a IRC channel but too many people couldn\'t access it.
But we can try it again. 😉 Add me in msn messenger, if you have any account: sergio.mcf@hotmail.com
Regards
About timezones, I don\'t know from where Ealb is. I hope he tell us in his comment. 🙂
Guess I\'ll have to download MSN Messenger again. 😉
GMT-4. Which is to say, one hour behind Luis.
I personally loathe chatting, because I\'m convinced I\'m physically incapable of curbing my convoluted speech patterns. I\'m also somewhat unsure of my schedule on Thursday. But assuming I\'m free, I can do chat. I\'d personally prefer Googletalk as an IM client, but I can probably scare up a MSN account.
I\'ll try to figure out my schedule by tomorrow night.
The only reason I suggested IRC is there is a function in which you can silence chat only allowing set individuals to talk. I have no idea is there is a function like that on MSN...I havent used it ages.
(Out of topic... I downloaded MSN once and it wanted to upgrade.. then yelled at my computer -I still have dial up yet because my area only has access to that- and then it wouldn\'t let me try to... well... update! So I couldn\'t get MSN... is there a version of download I am missing or something? Ha-ha...)
Perhaps, should you just hold a chat for the two candidates and then relay a summary or exact message as an article... or try to hold this for everyone to join?
I prefer that the people could see the debate so no one can say--\" I didn\'t say that\" or this or that, I think that with everyone it would be better, because we could see both guys LIVE, but if we can\'t schedule a time then we can have Cavalcanti monitor a debate on MSN then paste it in here.
@Kuolon--Download Yahoo Messenger you can add MSN Contacts in there 🙂
For those of us who can\'t come to the chat (almost certainly) it would be nice to have a log in an article, so even if it\'s just Luis, Ealb, and one witness (Cavalcanti) it would be able to be seen by the rest of us, and verified by a 3rd party.
Yes, I agree with Katran, if people can\'t attend Cavalcanti could release the log in his newspapers.
Sure, all the log of the Debate will be recorded. 🙂
Let\'s move on, people... So what do you think about the Debate in mIRC? And in MSN?

I\'d lean towards IRC, but I can do MSN.
I\'m going to be honest and say that later is probably better for me. I don\'t know that I\'d be this late tomorrow night, but I just got home tonight, and while I can skip over and check eRep from time to time when I\'m not home, I can\'t really dedicate 30-40m to chatting non-stop outside that environment.
How long are we talking, BTW?
