Well it happened and I seriously had no hope that it would. I was at the best hoping for a shot at the Eichael guy.
The Edmonton Oilers won the draft lottery and will most likely be drafting the best centre talent since Sid the Kid.
I'm shocked and giddy. Playoffs no longer matter. Only thing that could rain on my parade is Calgary winning the cup but not gonna happen anyways. Van will beat them in 6.
By no means did we deserve to win this but we did and now our sinking ship of a franchise can be salvaged. The pieces are in place.
Shoulda been in place a long time ago and its actually been really depressing to be an Oilers fan. The only excuse I can think of being a fan is they were gonna wait for the new arena to be up to bother building trying to build a real winner.
McDavid and Nuge as a 1-2 punch for the next 6 years atleast.

All the talk of trading any core pieces is Ludacris. You sit on them and they form your top 2 lines..
First act is to sign Niemii to a 3-5 year deal. He's 29 and obvious greatness is coming. 6 mil at 3 or 5 at 5.
Second act is to trade for Brent Seabrook with pittsburghs 1st overall and martin Marincin. Chicago's up against the cap and has to make a move sooner rather than later. Oilers second round pick if he signs extension.
I'd also field Oilers next years 1st overall and yaks or Draisaitl for another defenceman. basically hear offers.
Resign Roy to create some centre competition for once in forever and next year is good to roll.
Oilers may make the playoffs next year or not fighting for it. But come the year after that we'll be in the show with Nurse being a mainstay on the backend with klefbom after Nitikin is gone.
The wasteland that is Edmonton will soon be over and overpaying for crap will soon come to an end as players sign for less to play for a winner.
I'd talk to Babcock and if he's not interested stick with Nelson as far as coaching.

None of our picks have been wasted tbh. Management just hasn't put enough effort into the support of defense and goaltending

I've noticed recently that Oiler fans are almost as delusional as Leaf fans.

You may be right but on the other hand if I'm right I have quite a lot of reason to be excited. I'm just saying this pick now as it stands can right the ship if all the hype about him is true.
