There's something wrong in the state of eDenmark.
MansTrueNature
Time to be the calm one to explain things about the eGermany/eDenmark collaboration again it seems..
The cause of this rant.
I'm pretty sure there will be one or two of our German friends out there that will be puzzled, when I say there's quite a few disgruntled Danes that wants to end this collaboration.. Where did that sudden distrust come from? I'm about to tell you as well as hopefully clean the air a bit, so we can have a healthy discussion about what is in everyones best interests.
Why are some of the Danes unhappy then?
Strangely enough it has very little to do eGermany actually, but I can relate to the frustration of our guys.
We don't get to keep any land worth mentioning, we barely ever get to have elections and when we do, it's the same little circle that claims the congress and presidency seats over and over again. A chance to score any True Patriot points is a seldom sight here in eDenmark.
If your not on top of things on why that is, it's easy to think we're being robbed out on a deal that should be mutually beneficial. Fingers are pointed at Germany, which I think is very unfortunate since it has been our government that has decided these things. It's not German greed, it's Danish incompetence.
Pitchfork time then?
I should hope not. The agenda of this article isn't to point fingers, but to fix things. Fortunately a lot of it is easily fixed.
-We need to do some more friendly training wars again. It's really, really obnoxious that we don't get those TP points that would help us progress individually. Doesn't even matter if we get steam rolled every time, so I don't know why we stopped doing them. We seem to be good at whipping Denmark of unwanted regions near critical elections anyway.
-Some of us Danes needs to reconsider how they address others when questions are asked. Specifically those in that inner circle that takes the government seats every time. Being elected is a privilege, but should also come with the burden of accepting criticism. I'll leave it to those in question to figure that out on their own.
-Maybe it's time to let some fresh blood into the decision making. I understand the desire to only allow trusted people in, but there's also risk assessment. Letting in a clear PTO candidate and a confirmed Dane we might not know to well in are two very different things. I think there are certain chances one has to take. I'd be willing to pass on my congress seat for the next election.
There might be more, but just these 3 things, or some variation of them, would likely clear the air a lot. I also have the suspicion they are the cause of new eDanes leaving the game really quickly, so there's also some long term thinking to take into account.
Closing notes.
Should there still be some Danes still not liking the cooperation on a principle level, then think about this.
We have a very small population on our own and some of the Germans having switched citizenship is the only reason we have any stability at all. They to are being robbed out of the same things we are, but they are staying anyway though they might have been better of going home. Think about that a little. I for one appreciate them being here and what they are doing for us.

I really dont know what to say by now. If people would only try to get involved and not only expect everybody to do all the work, maybe we could change a lot of things.
Sadly we have a growing group of people that only say something when they wanna complain.
FFS do something, get involved, use forum, use irc, its the only way that others know you actually care about Denmark.
No matter if you like it or not, theres a reason why the PTO groups didnt succeed yet. A few active people spend hour after hour working for this not to happen. Its hard work, if some didnt notice. But it seem to me, that it aint appriciated as it should be.
Maybe some people would rather have a "free" Denmark ruled by some other nation, like Serbia and lately Brazil. I for one cant accept being ruled or robbed by anyone, its our country.
First of all: I have now heard that word inner circle a lot by 3 persons! only 3 persons! So I would like to hear an explanation: Who are in this Inner circle? I want names not just "inner circle". If you could give me some names it will be easier to tell you why these members are in the position they are in.
Right now we are in wars with eGermany to get wiped again. As something new our MoD actually tells people that they can fight for Denmark, AS LONG AS THE WALL FAVOURISES Germany.
Also I want to tell you a little story that I am tired telling you every single week. I am working on a project to get closer to the IRL Danes. However this is very difficult when almost half of eDenmark is filled with forreigners. Also what would you write in such a message? You can't be to formal and also you can't write something that some people don't understand. The third problem is that the message shall be formed so that forreigners can't make us believe that they are RL danes. If you could form such a message I would be grateful
If you could tell me who the members of that "inner circle" is I could tell you that it is only few of them who regular gets into the congress. And the reason why they get into the congress is very clear. I also consider to show you more than 10 documents that I made regarding elections, to show you how difficult it is to prevent PTO'ers winning congress seats or becoming president.
Also as Maine Coon stated, I don't think you appreciate our work. You know how many hours I spent writing PM's, coordinating an election etc. last month because I told you. However only 1!!!!! person wrote to me that what I did was amazing.
Would you keep on doing so much for eDenmark if no one says "good job"?
I wouldn't really call it incompetence, as Denmark is one of the only small countries which managed not to get PTOed by various nations such as Balkans or Turks. A perfect example in this case would be probably South Africa, Japan or Thailand, where down there there are pretty much barely any nationals. As Denmark is quite small indeed, the number of active or trusted citizens is little as well, having congress elections with 4 regions (40 congressmen) is just opening the door to hell. So yes, with there being limited number of congress members, it can be easily controlled with who gets a citizenship and who can give one. So, yes with one wrong congress elections you can screw the whole country for a very long time.
Getting TP medals, as far as I'm aware if the walls are on a + for Germany, then you are more than welcome to get some TP damage done, as long as your fighting or tanking won't affect the battle or the wall.
Same citizens getting to congress or government? By complaining you can't really change much. If you're active enough and get involved, I'm sure you'll be able to get a seat in congress or even the government. No one will roll a dice and decide whether you or someone else should get a chance, when we don't know much about you or how active you are. It would be silly to give changes to people who login to eRepublik once every 3 days or so, as then it's screwing the whole country up.
We really can't afford these kinds of arguments. It splits us up - and that's exactly how PTO'ers get though. I completely understand that it might sound quite paranoid at this point; but believe me when I say we've been here before. Usually it's always new people launching attacks at us. The defenders however remain the same. It gets tiring having to listen to people telling you that you're not doing a good-enough-job.
Honestly though, I can't say that we've pushed any newbies out - once they've proven their Danish. Since we haven't been able to grant citizenship in quite a while, that card has been impossible to play.
Anyone willing to participate in government work is however very welcome to submit their application to any and all of us oldfags. It's not as much a situation where we don't need people to join up in the so called "inner circle". The number of people applying however are ALWAYS staggeringly low.
I won't do a long speech this time, only quote KK's post right above me:
"Anyone willing to participate in government work is however very welcome to submit their application to any and all of us oldfags. It's not as much a situation where we don't need people to join up in the so called "inner circle". The number of people applying however are ALWAYS staggeringly low."
We have THE most open arms in regards to letting people in on doing some work, many of us who have been here long gets tired of doing the same work, but when no one new volounteers, then there's none but us to do it..
People like to complain and point fingers, but when it comes to doing some actual work, those said people are nowhere to be seen!
Make an effort, or stop complaining!
(This might come off harsher than I meant for it. It's just frustrations 🙂 )
For the record. This might have focused on the things that I think could need improvements, but there's also a lot of things that we have been doing really good. The way we handle PTO attempts for instance is unparalleled. However my agenda was not to pad anyone on their shoulders and say good job, when there are still other things to be done.
And if you doubt there's an inner circle(perceived or not), then all you need to do is browse profiles and have a look at who has the medals. I'm one of them and I make no claims that it's intentional, but I can see the viewpoint of those that have been complaining. It's also repeating a pattern that the first 5 replies getting defensive about criticism all have gotten X amount of gold from those sweet government medals. I didn't want to mention names, but with myself included you already have 6 out of that inner circle 😉
But the name mentioning/finger pointing/stake burning etc. is irrelevant to the topic at hand. It's about fixing things. If you stay blind to things could be done better, then this little issue(which it still is), is only going to develop in one direction.
Just so that you know it. Until last month we had NEVER! ranked anyone in the congress elections. That also means that you can't say that people should look at the congress medals. The PP's received following message until last month: Please rank these people: xx, xx lower than the trusted ones. The people marked with xx is PTO'ers. So if someone has congressmedals it is because that the PP's decided to rank them at a good position in the priority list. I can tell you that some PP's don't change the priority list at all except of moving PTO'ers to the bottom of the list. Yes we do sometimes ask people to vote a special place, but that is because that we try to prevent PTO'ers from getting into the congress.
I´ll gladly give away all my congress/CP medals now and in the future if anyone wanna step in my shoes and do all the work I do and have done. I did not ask for these medals, but you should know that it takes activity to be in congress and government. We have no use of people logging in once a week, people we cant get a hold of if a CS has to be accepted, a law need to be voted etc.
What makes me boil over, is that some people think its enough to get elected and then work is done, no need to show up again before next election - here´s a secret : its NOT enough !! and people should start realizing that....
Alright, I'm going to address the both of you, since it seems relevant. Since 2006 I have in other games been a leader of various guilds/alliances/clans etc. of between 1200 and currently just about 300 people and while it has been a long journey, with many mistakes made along the way, there's also a lot of knowledge learned when it comes to leading people and earning their trust. These are my two most important mantra's that are responsible for any success I've had.
1. Leadership/taking responsibility is the worst job there is. If everything goes well, the glory goes to everyone but you and if things end up going badly, all the blame lands on your shoulders.
2. People are naturally intimidated by authority. Even if they disagree with your actions, it takes quite a bit before they will speak up about it. Unless you reach that point when you have made them angry and then you are suddenly facing mutiny.
Now, you have both taken it upon yourself to be responsible for eDenmarks interests, but where do you see yourself in correlation to my mantra's? Is there something you could maybe learn to handle a little better? 😉
Quote : Is there something you could maybe learn to handle a little better? 😉 - Yes - to be better at giving a shit and let those who think they know better do all the work ( I learned by now Im way to nice ) - maybe I will try being better at saying NO ......
I accept that you say that I am a part of that "inner circle" because that I am an active part of the government and have a lot power in my hands, but at the same time it is a problem for you. Isn't it a good thing that you have a person that is active and does a lot for the country? Also. Wouldn't you say that if you are active and knows who that is trustworthy, what that should be done when we have a congress etc. then you deserve to get a congress medal? I don't want to be anyones enemy or hate you for having a different vision, but you have to understand that the reason why I have my congress medals and the power I have is because that I am an active citizen and I do a lot for eDenmark. If people think that they do enough to deserve a congress medal or whatever then I think they should talk to me or anyone else at forum, in PM's or at IRC!!!!.
I would like to know. What do you think happens in eDenmark? I am more than sure that you don't know everything that happens in eDenmark, because that you don't log into erepublik.dk(not you MansTrueNature, because I know that you have a profile there) or IRC? If you don't log into erepublik.dk or IRC you won't know the whole story, because something has to be discussed elsewhere.
I always try to talk with people who have an opinion and shares that opinion.
I also try to tell people almost everytime that I want to listen to their stories, but I demand that they listen to mine too. What I see more and more from 1 person especially is that I can find a lot arguments, but he don't want to listen to them. He just keeps attacking me with some bad arguments and sometimes assertions that he can't prove.
Hey Lasse, RFH mate checking in on ya!
Sup John, good seeing you here. Let's see if they other answers my call as well.
RFH Crew checking in... Lasse, you have our full support!
Good seeing your here as well. I forgot how annoying the registration process was.
hey mate. anything for a friend! (the avy brings back some memories)
RFH!
ready and waiting Lasse, just give the word 😉
RFH for the win, the whole motherland with you Lasse!
RFH will be allways with you Lasse !
Welcome to eRep guys 🙂
Alright! Baby-boom commencing?
You're more than welcome to check my posts on the forum. I've been trying to throw people in the deep end of the pool for years now. I've sent people I've never met before into the Ministry of Finance. Kristian Klausen is in fact the newest member of the "inner circle". My responses to the newbie-posts about doing something for Denmark have been nothing but positive. Actually rewarded those articles with cash.
I've also been advocating that we need an active political module for this game to be even slightly interesting. I can also honestly say that I've run out of ideas for getting people to start - but I'm willing to sponsor whoever has an idea that I like. With IRL-cash if that's what it takes.
Also, it might be hard to actually take a post, but I think it's even harder to get out once you've said yes to one. We're not all active at the same time, yet some people stick around all through the year. I don't see them as taking up one chair too many - I say that's a job well done and as such should be rewarded.
Lassie I am your side, RHF for the win!
