The Map of Europe (Day 2809/2810)

Day 2,809, 04:28 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Max Blue
This article outlines what is going on in Europe.

This is what Europe looks like today.

The large yellow circle on the map is Brazil who still occupy a region of the Netherlands and Germany (Poland and Hungary who are allies of Germany continue to hold the Southern regions of Germany). Slovenia also has one German region, however this is of little consequence as the region borders Hungarian held 'German territory', and Slovenia and Hungary are allies.

By contrast France is changing a lot. Slovenia has lost many of their regions in Northern France (these regions are now held by France) and it looks like Belgium will regain its last region from Slovenia, meaning Belgium is whole again. The USA continues to hold North Western France, but Colombia (highlighted in red) is losing regions in France quickly. (Colombia used these regions as a base to attack Spain.)

Spain (dark purple/blue regions, highlighted in green) have continued to push back against Portugal who had been occupying much of Spain. Now Portugal are very much on the defensive and Colombia are also having difficulty holding Spanish regions.

The black circle at the top of the map highlights some green regions that are Lithuania. Lithuania has been able to bring regions back onto the map but are losing badly to Poland in the MPPed war between the two nations. The black circle in the South of the map is Turkey who have fought back against Serbia to regain a region. Turkey are a strong country, so it is not surprising Serbia where not able to continue holding all of Turkey as well as the other Serbian conquered territories. It will be interesting to see if Turkey can now make a breakout and get the ball rolling in their favour here.

Probably the most interesting area of Europe at the moment is South Eastern Europe as this is where most of the strongest nations in erepublik are. This is also where key relationships are going to be formed or broken that decide what the rest of the world will look like. Macedonia (highlighted in orange) have fought back against Greece (highlighted in white) who wiped them and now Macedonia have there original regions back and have moved into Greek land. Bulgaria has also joined Macedonia in attacking Greece and they also occupy Greek land. Croatia, Turkey and Romania are backing Greece. While on the opposing side Serbia and their close all Hungary are joining with Bulgaria and Macedonia.

This conflict between Greece and Macedonia / Bulgaria is drawing other players in and this will be at least a part of what brings about change in the global 'alliance' structure.

Short updates

- The UK and Ireland still have two region each and are occupied by Argentina. The UK's peace agreement with Argentina expires on the 5th of August.

- Switzerland has been MTOed (the coup was successful) and now has a hostile Dictator again (for the 3rd time).

- The Czech republic has a revolution going on despite the elected CP being their Dictator. This revolution is not started by the Czech community so a hostile coup is likely to follow.

- Slovakia look like they are going to be removed from the map again after Hungary declared war on them (Hungary have had Slovakian regions under their control up until recently).
