The eUK this week...

Day 1,916, 02:29 Published in United Kingdom Australia by Send love to Plato

So what has been happening in the good ol' eUK this past week?

Well Congress has been very quiet and apart from one rogue natural enemy proposal it has been a rare week of just continuing our military protection pact with some valuable allies. The Spanish MPP is currently up for vote and is due to pass already with a comfortable 29-0 approval by Congress members who have voted to renew our military ties with our most recent saviour.

Congress is also currently voting on retaining the MPP with our dear friends Hungary, the vote is currently 30-2 in favour.

Other MPP's that have been successfully renewed this week are -

Poland 33-0
Bulgaria 34-0
Venezuela 26-3
And the two really important MPP's that we had recently lost -
Indonesia 32-0
and Chile 32-2

The rogue proposal was for a natural enemy call against Norway, Congress on advice from her Government voted the proposal down 4-25.

The other event in the world of eRepublik was the party presidential elections, where each party in this vast eRepublik universe voted for the person they wanted to run their party for the coming month.

Firstly to UKPP who had a huge 21 candidates, just to make that hit home...that is more candidates than what we small parties outside the top 9 in the eUK have in membership! There was some very recognisable candidates in that battle and in the end it came down to Big Ant and Sir Nick Griffin with Big Ant winning by just 5 votes.

TUP - Well with the elder statesman Iain Keers throwing his hat in the ring it did seem like the election would be a one horse race. In the end Iain won by a huge 72 votes and TUP will be looking to his experienced hands to guide the party away from the quiet period they have had recently and back to challenging UKPP.

New Era was another party who witnessed a very close race and most of the day the candidates were almost neck and neck. There were just 10 votes seperating the top three of Goku, wigibob and Alphabethis with Goku crossing the finish line first.

ESO have recently been on a surge under the experienced and steady hands of JamesW, so whoever took over would have huge boots to fill. The party membership placed their faith in Ullok, who has recently published some brilliant articles, with 55% of the votes more than his nearest rival.

One Vision stormed into fourth place recently but have seen a very hungry fightback by their nearest rivals in the political rankings. Having recently dropped into 5th place their membership have turned to veteran tank Alfagrem to see if he can retain their party in the holy grail of political parties - the top five.

Another party with a close fight was UKRP with her membership finally choosing Cygnus X1 over former CP Thomas765 by just 5 votes. With such history and experienced membership core it will be an exciting month to see if they can regain their top 5 spot.

Finally PCP who again placed their support in Zaphod and are now hoping they can kick start the party and begin to regain ground upon the top 5. Considering the party's proud history it is something that is not beyond PCP's reach if they can build the momentum.

And now to the Independent Alliance and this week I am proud to announce we will be holding our very first party conference. I will PM every member with the date well in advance as well as releasing an article concerning the date so you will have ample warning. The first conference will be focusing on our policies and editing the draft constitution that I have hastily written, other idea's and votes will be held so we hope to see all members there if possible.

If you want to play a role in the exciting development of a new political party rather than just be another number, then join the Independent Alliance where you will have a voice in our community. We hope to get our tenth member real soon so we can apply for our own forum section on the eUK's official forums which will really help to cement our foundations.
We will also be kick starting our Media fund by releasing an article, all members are welcome to apply for the funding to buy their own newspaper. As always the content is up to you as we just want to see members express themselves in any way that they wish to...details to follow soon.

Please read and vote a great article written by our very own Klurr, you can find it by clicking this link, all votes and comments are appreciated.

And finally, If you are a new player in the eUK you are entitled to free food from the Government in the eUK's NHS scheme which is designed to make your early stages in the game run as smooth as possible. The food comes from donations from members of the public so please do not be afraid to apply as at the beginning of everyone's eRepublik life we all needed a little help. You can apply for the NHS here by filling out this very simple form.
