The Economist ~ United by our values

Day 2,916, 15:45 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear friends,

I'm writing to you tonight not from the perspective of an eRepubican, or the perspective of any nation or alliance. I am long dead, and my death is one which is necessary for the game to move onwards, and I don't want that to be undone. I am writing from the perspective of a normal person, a citizen and a player, a human. Someone whom every person reading this can relate.

Violence in any form is a last resort of the hopeless, or it should be. When we lash out against people who have done nothing wrong it is either an act of childish immaturity or an act of callous destruction. The recent attacks in Paris, similar to those in New York in 2001, are in the latter category. Over a hundred people whose crime was to exist are dead. They belonged to every race and religion.

eRepublik like every community is made up from people of every religion and race. That is the whole point, and the reason we play. To meet, and appreciate, people with views and values different to ours. However when something like this appears, it necessitates unity. No matter our background or nation, we come together to condemn this violence. This is what kept me playing for five years, and what makes me log in every few months even now.

We are ultimately a community, and we stand together.
