The Death of eRepublik
The B
What happened to this place?
About 1,500 days ago (I have no idea what actual time), I published an article. Entitled "The New Worl
😛Getting Old?" it looked at the decline of eRepublik up to that point. It was not optimistic, but there was a shred of hope: ignoring the Polish babyboom, the New World was on average growing. I thought that that growth would continue. Clearly I was wrong.
The decline that has occurred since that time has obviously been terminal.
The fault, of course, has been with the eRepublik admins and their greed and stupidity. Their failure to really do anything after the 2011 rebellion was, I believe, the reason for the decline. Perhaps they never had any intention of keeping eRepublik alive anyway.
It's a shame because eRepublik, in my experience in the eUK, had a vibrant and friendly community. Sure, there were problems, but we got on. eRepublik produced some great, intelligent players who are too numerous to mention. I was a senseless, politically illiterate idiot when I first joined back in the early days, largely due to my age, but eRepublik did something to change that. I never was successful in eRepublik, but I had great fun playing it.
I see now the old eRepublik forums dead, updated barely every day, and it's sad and depressing. But, ultimately, the admins created a community that was bound to fail, and this is the end result. We are down to about 100,000 "active" citizens globally, most of whom a few years ago would be dead - strangely, nobody seems to die any more. A great many others are multiple accounts.
And so, sadly, I finally say goodbye to this place and hope, perhaps in the future, the glory days will return.
Hail Bob Boblo!

ye
yep, your birth date is 4 days before me - when eRepublik was at its peak. I was ranked 8000 in eUK for a while - now you only need a pulse to get in the top 250 🙁
I'm rank 254... Am I dead, Paul? 🙁
Guess so, I'm 204 and not exactly trying, your pretty dead.
I'm 245 and I haven't even taken two clicking seriously
The game is what you make of it. I still find it interesting...
I once had a pet stone, called Norman. Erepublik makes me miss Norman!
Horice 🙁
it's sad to see you go. though I'm still here to break a record(100k str + titan in div 2) even with the amount of boredom I got through many years playing this game.
have fun in RL! o/
I"ve thougth to quit and took a month of break, but soon after continue to play,I still find it interesting to play.
That's not a break, and I don't think it was a full month? ADDICTION 😉 something this place need more of, but tries very hard to discourage.
Indeed - I took a three and a half year break....
It's not dying for me. I think it's a great game, and I intend to hang around for as long as it's online. The community hasn't failed either - there's lots of good things going on.
Game is fine, eUK just got taken over by some very selfish and inactive people.
lol
Goku's back...
LIGHT THE BEACONS!
coz of selfish and inactive people, UK gets respected from many countries and accomplish more than you and dapper do.
you should feel ashamed.
Looks like we are achieving loads hahaha.
Joined in 2009, still in D1. Will anyone notice your passing?
Joined in 2010, still in D1. seen players from 2013 with more strength then me XD
lol. I have seen people with str around 70-80k in div 1.
😛
Not so much D1, Luke Braferd proves that much, it's the total 'Hey everyone, I'm a multi account, my owner logged on a few times several years ago before shelving me, now I got resurrected to write the sky falling article'.
I don't know much about luke or if he's a multi user. But what I do know is that everyone on this game is a suspected multi user and I just get along with everyone not try and start fights.
Also I have died like 5 times in this game. does that make me a multi?
Replying on Sir Jimmy Savile's comment dated 2632 12:34, cos the thread is to deep.
I tend to find that a really great way to get along with everyone and avoid fights, is to read carefully what others write. When I think it's hostile or negative, I read it a second time and check supporting evidence to form my opinion, instead of getting out my soap box to bleat messages of free love and komradeship from.
My reference to Luke Braferd was that he IS in D1 which was used by Sexagenarian as a marker for noobyness, where he clearly shows that you can be in D1 and have lots of strength, a more important marker for being less nooby. So instead of saying 'I don't know much about X', click the link on the profile and read, then in all likelihood you'll know exactly as much as the person writing a comment.
