The Best and Worst of Times: Election Wrap

Day 2,604, 19:47 Published in Australia Australia by JackTrout

Item 1: What a close election— the stats are listed below, but don’t let them fool you. WyvernJack was down only two votes with a few hours’ voting left, and no one could tell if it would be him or Rusty D to take the honours. As I’m sure you know, Rusty D won, but I trust he will seek counsel from his countryman WyvernJack, in accordance with the wishes of the eAustralian people. And good efforts too by Vasilis888 and Doovah Sandy.

Item 2: There were 60 votes cast by a population of 349 active citizens (according to the Society section of eAustralia). That is just under 18% of the population voting. I am not sure about the ratios, as I don’t know yet where to find the historic population numbers— but 64 votes were cast in the January 2014 CP election. In the same month in 2013, 158 votes were cast. In January 2012, the number was 224. In 2011, it was 407.

I know eAustralia has lost some population and some land over that time. I hope we have not lost more than that. We work together as a country in this game, or we sink or swim as individuals. I say we all start swimming together, like a pack of hungry sharks. And that means being part of something that you work for, and making your ehome a better place. And that means voting too, damnit.

This article is written under no one’s auspices but my own. I support our CP no matter who it is. I think every Aussie recognizes the need for effort on everyone’s part, to make eAustralia strong. I stand with you, eAustralia, and I stand behind you, Rusty D.

The numbers:

Candidate / Total Votes / Percentage of Votes
Rusty D / 26 / 43.3%
WyvernJack / 19 / 31.7%
Vasilis888 / 11 / 19.3%
Doovah Sandy / 4 / 6.7%
