The advantages of having allies

Day 1,742, 04:36 Published in Belgium Belgium by Nohjis

Hello all,

As you are well aware by now, you’re living in eBelgium, one of the few “neutral” states in this eWorld. The thing that really sets us apart from most other neutral states is that most of the time we have all our regions. On occasions the Netherlands, France or the UK may attempt an invasion but this never resulted in long-lasting occupation of part or all of our regions and was mostly seen as an activity for fun by the opposing side. Other neutral states are usually forced into submission of a bigger nation and sometimes they end up aligning with one or the other side (You may find some past and present examples in Denmark, Japan, North Korea, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria, Malaysia,...).

If I’m here today it’s to talk about the advantages of picking a side to play with. There’s a multitude of good reasons to join in on the international world war. First of all, this world is driven by international conflict. Leading from this you will find that pacifism creates an incomprehensible institutional bureaucracy. The role of our leaders (the president, congress, army commanders and captains) is to make sure there is some sort of entertainment provided to all the citizens. If you find bureaucracy entertaining I think the new world is not really the place to be.

A world driven by international conflict, it’s not hard to observe, as soon as you enter the world you’re invited to participate on the battlefield and required to do so every day of your eLife if you wish to progress and become a hero. Due to this, there are only few pacifists in the new world. Pacifism would require to not take part in the most important module of this game, not completing missions, only reading and writing articles and attempting to make profits in the economy module even though without military expenses the latter may seem rather pointless.

There are dangers to an organized form of fictive pacifism. As some have observed in eBelgium there is a type of bureaucracy that you rarely find in other parts of this new world. Perhaps it’s because there’s no truly efficient manner to spend tax money or it might be because the leadership of the country is actually bored and just attempts to find something to remain busy.

The true role of a leader however is different, it is to bring fun activities to those who choose to follow. These activities may be writing articles for others to read, organizing military strikes, making sure there is a sufficient number of mutual protection pacts so that others don’t need to move around the world to fight for their daily order.

An alliance brings you all of this and more. There can only be reason to write an article if there’s conflict or a reason to motivate others. There can only be organized strikes if there’s a military goal to achieve. There can only be sufficient mutual protection pacts if you align with one of the bigger alliances. Money can only be effectively spent if there’s a true goal to achieve.

eBelgium is one of the leading states in providing social programs. Over 80% of its active citizens benefit of some form of state aid. You may believe this redistribution is not fairly organized or that there’s not enough or too much of it but I invite you to find another country that does better. Don’t let this potential go to waste, dare make a decision, dare make a move forward to a higher goal. Dare to make friends in this eWorld outside of eBelgium and find that there’s greater deal of fun to be had.
