Put Up or Shut Up
Alias Vision
We are at the Dawn of a New Age. The Age of Dictators. Even with the prohibitive costs of starting a revolution (one way or another), I suspect we will witness a number of "dictatorial events" in the short term.
I like this change for the sake of change itself. Whether or not it works as intended holds negligible appeal to me. I'm just happy to have something different to consider and talk about and hope that change engenders more changes (would be even better if we talked of innovation).
Like most changes to the New World though, what this means to one segment of the community vs. another will be dramatic.
You can't escape linear (progressions, consequences) in an environment like this one and therefore this will be the update of the big over the little. Again. This is not a failure on the part of the powers that be, it is just hellaciously difficult to steer clear of that cycle unless your design allows otherwise from the onset.
What dictators mean for Canada, domestically.
This is Cordis' play. By their numbers, organization, loyalty and sheer damage output, they are defacto kingmakers or guarantors of Democracy. This will be the case for most medium and small sized nations where influence resides disproportionately in the hands of key MUs.
It is important to highlight that this appears to be phase 1 of the dictatorial diagram but already there are enough apples dangled to be worth the while of charismatic leaders and warmongers. The calculations we will all have to make is whether or not 400,000 cc (because invariably you will encounter a want or a need to replace the person in charge) and lack of medal gold (presidential, congressional) is worth the gambit.
There can be incredible stability in a sole leader. There can just as easily be irreparable harm and chaos.
Perhaps the most tempting aspect of this update will be the opportunity of saying to your political opponents, put up or shut up. Think how motivating this module would have been during some of Canada's more tumultuous times and rebellion.
What dictators mean for Canada, internationally.
This is where I want to raise the red flag. As easy as it can be for individuals to raise the 200,000 cc and make a play for the big chair, it will be that much easier for organized foreign forces to do so.
From now on, every disgruntled MU leader becomes a National Security threat. Every wrong CS application could spell disaster.
Why?
Because money talks and bribes work. A foreign power with means can bribe a MU leader to start a rebellion. A single foreign agent gaining CS can create a MU and do the same. Dictatorial conflicts have the potential of becoming proxy wars. The initial costs are a little elevated but they would require much less organization and potentially have devastating effects.
This is in fact a winner take all proposition. We have been introduced to a new end game.
Life in Canada has just become a little more complicated.

Countries holding lots of gold (>900) and CC (>200'000) are at risk. I can think of Brazil or Greece just to name a couple. Simply put, eCanada should spend every bit in the treasury monthly to at least discourage the economic value of the Dictatorship.
No worries we already have done that.
Time to join cordis my fellow supporters.
Sure let's piss away 100's of bars fighting each other. We need to work together and get to a dictatorship without wasting resources. We are a prime target for a foreign PTO.
Going to a controlled dictatorship makes that twice as hard and take 3 times as long.
Excellent idea!
We should move to a dictatorship.
Would make the cost of a foreign dictatorship PTO 400K and take close 2 weeks. A big pill for anyone to swallow.
Elections still take place. We simply run congress from the forums. We put who ever wins the CP race in charge of the lead MU.
Something tells me that an individual who can successfully pull of a dictatorship, isn't going to be real interested in giving out democracy after the fact.
Same as ever, we need to choose wisely..
Adam Sultler's multi: klop123!
Could you please explain me the 400k Revolution costs? I don't get that from the update. So long I'm confused now.
If we moved to a dictatorship ourselves as a group. Any new group would have to start the revolution at 200k to bring us back to democracy. Wait another 10 days then over throw the elected government out again. Another 200K. Total cost 400K.

Rylde4dictator
homer4dictator
Cordis this cordis that. Just a small fish in a big pond. They only had 5b weekly damage last week...
People can move and join MUs without needing cz now so anyone can come help fight in any rebellion/revolution
Don't even need to have CS to make a MU...
inb4 United Aggression PTOs eCan 😛
tempting... but I don't want Canadian CS right now. xD lol
It's the 'Citizens United' of eRepublic.
It's time for a Crimson dictatorship. Homer4Dic
Homer's been practicing with Dic for . years.
Small countries like ours could be in big trouble.
Small countries like India can be in trouble. We should transfer all our treasury to loyal citizens.
Maybe im misunderstanding the new system comming but doesnt this mean while Rylde and friends get a dictatorship, something that one can argue is in place anyway at the moment, and while we all fight each other to see who is the bigger dicktator and spend alot of resources doing it another country or rogue MU can set up shop and basically PTO whatever is left of small countries
"A Dictator can grant an extra 50% of the citizenship passes the country’s Congress is entitled to during the current term"
I dont think I like this change
Yes. setup a puppet dictator then tax the hell out of the population and send the money home.
The 50% extra is meaningless since the dictatorship is passed down through the commander. Each dictator is automatically granted CS. So a large MU of foreigners could instantly gain CS without using a single pass.
Voted!
i'm here
Perma-Rylde. Problem solved.
