Paul Says: Election Edition [Party President]
Paul Proteus
This article of Good-Bye Blue Monday is in two parts,
Congratulation Returning Heroes
Battle: DC
The first section is mostly directed at my fellow Libertarians, the second section is mainly me venting my frustration, so feel free to read.
Congratulations Returning Heroes

Now on to…
Battle: DC
First off, I am sorry to our candidates who lost to blockers, that sucks, but that also happens. I am especially sorry to you PrincessVic, we’ll get you in next time. Still, sometimes blockers win, that’s not what this is about. Secondly, this is not against the USWP in particular, this is not about FEC or ATO, they did their job of keeping PTOs out for the most part. After all, that is their job. DC is what this is about…
Naron being sniped over Claire was ridiculous and here’s why:
Exhibition A) Naron got some of his votes out of a personal spite for Claire from someone involved in ATO, three votes may not seem a lot out of the 15 naron received but especially with threat of PTO, three votes can tip elections and the fact that they came from spite is disappointing, even if in this game, not always surprising.
Exhibition B]
Naron did not want to win. this is not the same as pushing Publius or Inwegen in (I’m not going to comment on that for now). I’ve even asked naron, and though he didn’t really want to be quoted nor involved in this. He has apologized for being sniped in, something which was out of his control, and he has told me he signed up with the sole intent of helping this party, he did not sign up to win. He wanted to be a blocker, not a candidate
Exhibition C)
ATO was busy in Wisconsin, where the candidate they were pushing lost by one vote, so why is an ATO director directing ANY votes (Even if they were Personal friends) towards DC, a state where the INCI candidate was faaar behind, and without any interference there would have been a smooth clean election of Claire Littleton. And about the fact that they were personal friend, being a ATO director means putting away personal endeavors and pushing your friends to aid in the ATO effort.
Exhibition D)
Votes multiply. Three votes for naron again might not seem like much, but three votes for naron could prompt three more votes for Claire. Now if there is a chance that there were more than the admitted three, or if there definitely was three, that means that a possible 6+ votes were wasted that could have gone elsewhere.
In Conclusion
That’s all speculation, especially the last part, and as Libertarian Party President I’m going to be biased, but seeing one of your candidates lose to a blocker who has no intentions nor desire to win, is frustrating.
Anyway, there have been better elections, there have been worst, there will be better, there will be worst, from a purely ATO standpoint, it was a success, yet it definitely doesn’t seem that way to me.

sure thing, boss! you win some, you lose some. : D
Hi Paul. : )
I would say two things could be done. First of all, eliminate any "Conflicts of Interest". Anybody in ATO who even has the appearance of a conflict of interest should be substituted for a willing participant who doesn't have any appearance of a conflict of interest.
Don't have any Blockers run in Regions where those Blockers may be deemed to be "more attractive" than the approved candidate. Also, don't approve anybody to be a Blocker who has a history of being sniped into Congress (as a Blocker) at the last minute. These two things will reduce the temptation of snipers having approved candidates losing their seats to Blockers.
Remember the time fingerguns beat out Harrison Richardson running as a Federalist blocker in DC ? Good times...
