Pass the Popcorn! The Party in Europe

Day 1,760, 22:18 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

This game is shallow. There's little strategy in warfare, the media module is mediocre at best, and it's ridiculously easy to destroy a nation from the inside. Yet no one can deny that at times this game is ridiculously fun.

As I'm sure everyone has seen, Serbia has been a mighty blob for quite some time. Despite Serbia not currently controlling much foreign land, for long stretches of time the Serbs have controlled Croatia and Bosnia, for better or for worse. It is, as a result, a very hostile region, as the Croats and Bosnians take any chance they get to break out of Serbian control, and many wars have been fought in the region.

But Serbia's long-time ally Poland is a different story. After Poland fixed up its holdings in Germany, it's been relatively stable. It's had its share of fights, but has never been really threatened, unlike many of its allies. But all that changed ever since the French-Polish political crisis.

The Polish side of the story is that France betrayed their agreement not to revolt, and that France's refusal to return the 'illegal' province forced a war. The French believe that Poland was being unreasonable and openly hostile, and refused to simply give in to their demands. Whichever side you're on, you can't deny that the war the last few days has been entertaining.

And quick declarations of war from both Spain and FYROM, it looked as if France's wipe would be the end of it. And for France, it's true. After a successful revolt to cut off the Polish from their western French lands, it's been all downhill, from a surprisingly poor showing at Paris and every single crushing defeat on the three fronts afterward. Even as you read this, France is being torn to shreds by the Polish army.

Yet it's not as one-sided as it seems. Ireland has taken the opportunity and washed out the Polish from their shores. (Get it? Shores? Washed? Hahahaha yeah me neither) Colombia (not Columbia) and Portugal have both taken the chance to attack Spain, and America looks poised to join the fight soon on the side of France, with FYROM planning to invade Aquitaine.

And let's not forget the entertainment from the east! Ukraine currently has a single-vote NE proposal on Poland that may pass depending on whether or not Ukraine's CP feels like lulz or not. And Belarus is free once again and may attack if the tide turns their way. Add in a splash of good ol' Russia and a newly-aligned Sweden, and you have a huge continental war waiting to happen.

So yes, France's inevitable defeat is a tragic loss to be sure. But with Spain under pressure, Dutch and German RWs running wild, beasts from the east peeking through the window, and 'merica coming to 'save the day', this'll be a fun few weeks in Europe! And they said the Balkans were a riot...

Oh yeah, and Uruguay's airstriking Pakistan to build a wall and close in Serbia. It's pretty swell!

Until next time, take care!
