NSNBC: Message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs

NSNBC: International News that's More Colorful

Today is Day 2,474 and this is a very different story.

I intend this article to be used as an overview and to offer insight into how I have run the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the time I have served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I have personally spoken to almost every Government in the New World.

I have worked hard to open a relationship between Cuba and Norway. Worked to strengthen our relationship with Armenia. And tried to settle and avoid conflicts with Aurora.

To do some of these things, I have been far from formal. I have poked jokes at our own country. I have made passive jabs at our Congress, how quiet it can be in here, our President, our resources, and our relationships.

But I am very loyal to Norway and it's Government.

For some of these countries, even talking to leaders of nations that don't like us, all it takes is a good placed laugh, even at our own expense, to open up a dialogue that wouldn't have existed without.

Like Aurora, I am proud to have designed their logo, and because of that, I have met and talked frequently with Government members in that alliance. But just because I gave a little bit of pretty, to our enemy, doesn't mean I am any less loyal to us, or our friends. It means I want to have a line of communication everywhere, with someone who feels comfortable talking to me.

That can, and has, paid off for us in just this past month.

I would also like to say, that there are times to apologize for the actions of a nation, even when it is your own. As a German-American, well... Need I say more?

But even if I apologize for Norway's actions, it's never because I don't have faith in our direction, I just may not agree with the path. I have a right to disagree, and I may not raise my objections. Because I have faith in those who are smarter and have served longer than I have.

I take my job seriously, and I am thankful for it. The reason I am posting this article, is because it has come about in another article, some things I have said about Norway to the United Kingdom.

I would like to point something out, I am not an English major, it's not even my first language. But when I say something and it includes "lol" it means I am joking. Perhaps "laugh out loud" no longer means what it used to.

In the end, through talking with our friends and enemies, it is easier to build trust, when you emulate someone worth trusting.

If I want a German, to trust me and talk to me like a German, I need to behave like one until that is what they see me as. I need to talk the talk, and walk the walk, until they are ready to lead me down the path I want, and tell me what I need to hear.

That is how you open effective Foreign Affairs.

To get the English to talk to me effectively, I need to be English. You have to become the friend someone is looking for, to be the friend they look for when they need to talk. Which is especially important and effective in Global Politics.

There are over 100,000 people represented by dozens of Governments. And I am only one person, with a small but fantastic team, but in order to find out what Norway needs to know, before anybody else, I need to be everyone's friend.

And to be a friend, sometimes you make a little fun of your other friends.

For what I said, I am truly sorry if I offended my country or misrepresented my office.

I am the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and my job unfortunately doesn't involve anything in our country very often, which is why I work so hard to keep NSNBC going so I can stay connected.

I don't want to ever be considered two faced as a public servant, I really do like all the people I have met, I may not always understand their methods or train of thought, but I'm only one person and I have my own.

I hope this has been insightful, and I can only hope that my fellow nationals understand.

If you have made it through all of this, thank you very much for taking the time to read my open letter.

From around the world, to the front of your screen...

Thanks, from your Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Thank you all!
