My Terms For Peace - A Follow Up

So with my last article going supernova (tip of the hat to whoever bought it votes) I think I need to explain the purpose for the article and what it was about.

Earlier this week DMV started campaigning for CP, and in those articles included his idea for Victory Bonds that would be backed by the Gold currently sitting in our treasury.

Since DMV is new around here I thought I should let him know that while in theory his plan was sound, eCanada has a history of being incredibly tight with the purse strings when it comes to gold and there was a decent chance that once it came to Congress to cough up the money to repay the bonds they would refuse.

This is when the attacks started.

First he attacked me personally, which I ignored because as we all know I'm above reproach in every aspect.

Next he tried to turn it into a partisan issue. Attacking my party attempting to draw me into a fight that way. Once again he failed. Every time he attacked I responded that I wasn't trying to start a fight, I was merely offering advice and stating facts.

Then the thinly veiled pleas for help started. Seeing he was grasping for help, and clearly in over his head I decided to do him a favor and write an article. In that article I would include the terms for peace, that if they were agreed on by both sides I would begrudgingly accept.

To be clear, they were not a starting point. They were not open for for further negotiation. They were not up for debate.

I'm ready, willing and able to keep up the good fight. Either you buck up and accept my terms, or I'll do what I can to make you pay out the nose to keep us under your thumb.

But Muglack... you're not spouting populist rhetoric or getting us ready for the Showcase Showdown! Clearly it's all an evil MDP scheme. Luckily our hero McVicker has plans for a play-congress, pre-emptive bankruptcy and magic pony dreams to keep us embroiled in endless war that we haven't been able to afford for months.

For all intensive purposes we're already bankrupt! What's the point of having reserves of you can't use them to fight a long-term occupation?

The expression is "for all intents and purposes."

The purpose of having them is to use them when they are actually available. Not when fantasy moves us to pretend we have them.

We do not have the money until we have an actual congress to tell you you cannot spend it anyway. In the mean time, it essentially does not exist, and we need to finance the war against the occupation by other means.
