Musical Memories.
Anthony Colby
Hello all.
Music is a powerful force in many peoples lives. Many big events and some not so big are associated with certain songs.
For me of course is the first dance with my new wife 17 years ago. Also there are certain songs that I will associate with events in college.
But probably one of the fondest is way back in my early teens while traveling to a yearly fishing trip with my father, brother, cousin and neighbor. While listening to the radio The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels comes on. Our neighbor immediately starts playing the air fiddle. While not as well known as the air guitar the air fiddle is quite an interesting instrument. Especially after the musician has had a few as our neighbor had. Well we all had a huge laugh which ended up with tears being shed as it was sooooo funny.
Every time I hear that song I can not help but think of that moment. It is even more special as our neighbor died a few years after in a boating accident. As I said music is powerful. It creates and inspires powerful memories and emotion.
So what I want to hear are your musical memories. They don't have to be big events. They don't have to be profound. They just have to be musical.
Post away.
Thanks for reading.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfr2p6biYHE this was the start of the move to rock music etc in my language. anyway enjoy the music
Nice
Any music which contains significant amounts of piano usually does it for me.
For me it's this song by Ben Folds which I sang for my wife at our wedding reception instead of making a speech. I'm not the best singer in the world but I play a mean piano and there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

I bet you are a better singer than me. lol I sound like Kermit the Frog.
I don't really associate songs with events as such, though the first concert I went to was Blondie at Salford University in '79, so I tend to associate most of their songs from that era, Denis, in particular, with me pogoing watching them. You'd have to know me to realise how farcical I looked. Good times, though.

Blondie. Nice. My first concert was the Cars.
First concert was Eminem in Slane (80,000 people).
Was incredible.
No music that really was attached to a stand out moment. But plenty of moments with music attached.
That counts too.
