Mid day election prediction and commentary
Bashher
Well it is election day and eCanada and despite these being the dark days of a wipe we still need a Country President....
I don't think this is going to surprise anyone but at this point it does look to be a re-election of Rylde.
Rylde had quite a tumultuous last term. Struggling through the wipe while enduring the arrogant diplomacy of our dictating diapers to the south, a heated conversation with another eCanada politician that went too far, and an regrettable dropping of the n bomb in a political paper...
Personally I voted against Rylde this election as a protest vote against these behaviors that I find somewhat unacceptable. It was not an easy decision as I find Rylde to be an adept leader for a war time presidency, and I find his foreign policy and war strategies to be very much in line with what I believe to be best for our country. Add in the utter despise that our Murican overlords have for him and it makes his re-election rather palatable.
So now I would (prematurely) like to congratulate Rylde on winning this election, while offering up a request. Please continue to be a pain in the side of our murican foes, but act more Canadian while doing it. A little civility and respect towards fellow players doesn't take much effort.
kick Murica in the balls, just remember to say sorry afterward.
Comments
"Stay the same, bro, but please fundamentally change also."
If we said we were sorry for kicking Murica in the balls, we would be as dishonest and disingenuous as they are. Rylde's surly plainspokenness makes him quintessentially eCanadian.
No fundamental change necessary. Just drop the unnecessary comments that detract from the enjoyment of playing this game.
He knows he went to far, apologized publicly and has moved on. I hope that we don't see anymore of these issues (from any one not just our fearless leader)
As for the kicking them in the balls and saying sorry. Its all about perspective...
One can say "I am sorry Murica that your poor behaviour and bullying tendencies has forced me to send my steal toe boot into your genitals with much velocity. " and not be disingenuous.
Of course Rylde has his own way of talking and in now way resembles my comments but the point is still the same; Keep fighting the bullies but keep the trash talking to an acceptable level.
We clearly have different opinions on what is an "acceptable level."

He is just like Rob Ford, a populist jackass. Skill as a diplomat or leader has nothing to do with the democratic process.
Rob Ford the warmonger
There is a key difference. At the time he was elected, Ford seemed to be the least of several evils, and no one at the time knew that he was a crack-head and a drunkard. Rylde is well-known as the chief "evil" in this election, and his many vices are well-documented. We elect him because of these reasons, not despite them, or because they were unknown to us.
Why though? Entertainment value? The "hero villain" persona may have appeal to some, but taken on the whole, it reflects badly on the community. Are we a community of "bad asses", or worse yet "idiots"?
Nosir. We are a small community being bullied and ridiculed by a much larger, wealthier one. Do we let the bastards keep sitting on our collective chest and spitting in our collective mouth and then meekly do their bidding? Or do we wriggle a hand free to give their balls a punch because we wish to be free and left alone?
A month ago, the eUS offered to keep only two regions in return for 12.5 k cc and eCanada not renewing the eSerbian MPP. Also don't NE the UK. This was widely disaproved at the time and seems widely forgotten now. I like to call it Rumsfeld memory. Actually, Ford + Rumsfeld .....that would be familiar. Anyways, best of luck to eCanadians, other friends, all eRepublik chess lovers, and congrats to the in-out going CP.
Was it only a month ago that that insult was leveled at us? How time flies. Those terms were just as unacceptable a month ago as they are now. Rental agreements are one thing. Forcing policy on threat of occupation is another. Please stop pretending it anything other than pure arrogance.
Understood.
I will continue, however, to be very wary when playing Civ. 5. When the Ottomans ally with lots of city states that are at war with me, when the Russians form an alliance with my war enemy the French, I will have to wipe them out. I can see how it is completely different in this game however cause... ah yes the arrogance thing. That changes all??
The "deal" offered by the eUS, described above, was rejected with the approval of most vocal eCanadians. And maybe that will turn out to have been the right thing to do. I don't know if it was arrogantly offered or arrogantly rejected. I do know that the rejection was accompanied with an announcement that the Serbian MPP would be immediately renewed/signed. This may be good policy. It certainly has natural consequences. Time will tell if those consequences are beneficial.
For the present, may I renew my congratulations to Rylde on his re-election, and my good wishes to eCanadians, other friends, all eRepublik chess lovers. After all, as the author of this article points out: "A little civility and respect towards fellow players doesn't take much effort."
Regards
Xander: notice how olivermellors' writing style is less grandiose and artificial than yours, yet gets his ideas through even more clearly? I realize you're roleplaying at least somewhat, but you can learn from your enemy even if you do not agree with him.
Ah good old Civ 5.
It is arrogance to assume the eUS government has any place dictating our allies for us. We can twist each others' words all week, but that is the sticking point. The "deal" was rejected for that reason. Pfeiffer's shadow court knew it would be. It was spitting in our faces and telling us to like it. You can keep pretending it was a matter of "national security" if it helps, but everyone knows it was really a matter of "f*** you because we can now." There was nothing noble or honorable about any of it.
Bluejacket, your advice on my "style" is neither welcome nor accurate. If my tone does not suit you, stop voting my comments. You vote them an awful lot. Seriously, I got 7 notifications just today.
Team eUS doesn't dictate team eCanada's choices. The consequences, however, are foreseeable and natural. I am not persuaded arrogance has much to do with anything though the absence of dignity and civility may be prime suspects. The other guy's fault of course; no doubt about that. Still, I thought this article's advice was appropriate. How 'bout you?
Team eUSA doesn't dictate our choices because we will not let them. That is what the war has been about for us. The consequences of living next to megalomaniacs are, as you say, quite foreseeable - they will invade and occupy because they can.
I've no desire to be civil to people whom I do not respect. And there is nothing dignified about accepting forced servitude, nor in offering it under false pretense. Nice try, though.
I agree with the "kick Murica in the balls" part, and the part congratulating Rylde on his continued presidency. The rest, I can pretty much take or leave.
Thank you for taking the time to discuss this with me. This will be my last contribution.
Team eUS has been able to invade for years. They had not. A large number of highly placed, very influential Americans wanted to invade for years. They did not get their way. The Elephant has now rolled over. You insist they are megalomaniacs and arrogant and all sorts of other nasty things. I think that language deflects attention from causes and potential. Civility costs nothing and brings immediate rewards. Childish melodramatic sturm and drang brings, mostly, turbulence and self congratulation. I am often wrong however.
Again, thank you for the pleasure of this conversation.
You are telling us nothing that is not already known. Pfeiffer and his "shadow cabinet," the real power behind the throne, had finally placed enough puppets that they could do whatever they wanted to whomever they wanted. They have been calling for our blood for years. A convenient excuse was clumsily fabricated by Wild Owl, and then spun into glorious dogma by Gnilraps.
They are megalomaniacs. They have demonstrated their arrogance to us on nearly every occasion. The "cause" is "cause we can now, ha ha."
Being on the delivery end rather than the receiving end, of course you cannot see it, and would deny it if you could. There's that saying about history being written by the victors.
I once tried to have a private, "civil" debate by PM with one of your people. He was unable to maintain it for long without resorting to open mockery and sarcasm. There is no being civil with you people, because you simply turn it around to spit in our faces.
Enjoy your high road.
😁😁^???? you do know I am not American right? I don't have eUS citizenship, I'm not a RL American and I have no game allegiance to team eUSA. My MU commander is on record saying "we ain't fightin for those damn Americans" etc etc etc????? I don't have any "your people": I am pathetic ... sighhhh... My purpose was to underline this article's main message about civility and respect for fellow players. Thank you again for a pleasant chat.
Kind regards
Don't take it personally Oliver. Anyone who has even a slight allegiance to eUSA. Will get a digital kick in the teeth by one of our boys. lol. Xander Kross is way past civil at this point. I'm not surprised either. We eCanadians got screwed and then somehow the eAmerican elites also managed to demonize us in the media as well. I'm sure Xander Kross has nothing against you personally. He's just pissed off.
If it walks like an eAmerican, talks like an eAmerican, sympathizes with eAmericans against eCanada and speaks knowledgeably about eAmerican politics... it's a "you people."
Anyway: "This will be my last contribution."

Xander: I don't always vote articles or comments to show I agree with them.
Usually, I vote comments like yours to encourage everyone to see you in full tantrum-mode.
You have not once seen me in "full tantrum mode," sir. But it is lovely to have your constant support, even if you are no more than a nasty little hornet.
@Ashkera: I get nostalgic reflecting on the Brolliance, I tolerate the existence of most eMurikans I know, and I occasionally enjoy the friendly banters and conversations that we may engage in. By extension, I have a slight allegiance to eUSA.

> Don't mind me, I'm just being pretentious for my own amusement and perhaps the amusement of others.
eAmerican love and hate aside, I'm still eCanadian and one of you guys.
Every now and then I join in the (sometimes meaningless) banter because I feel out of touch and somehow this makes me feel relevant.
Vote for the muppet, you fools!
