Life and Death, or: The Art of making up Your Mind about the Future
Broersje
Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,
It's time for us to face the truth. This is what our community looks like:
The eNetherlands are dead.
Let's analyze this depressing fact.
There is nothing to do here. Well, people in government do things, but I can't imagine the work they do is very effective and, thus, rewarding. Although Zeeuwsmeisje, whom I respect a lot, promised to bring back the fun, there have been no results so far.
Nobody wants to live here. The few that move here or start playing in the eNL, don't take very long to die of pure boredom or move away. Recruiting is useless and always has been for eNL.
The media are dead. Apart from some activity during elections that don't even matter because everyone has the same ideas, there is the occasional article about, well, nothing, because there is no activity whatsoever.
Politics are dead. The game makes it so that every problem has only one solution, that is, if there are any problems that can be solved by politics. The system of political party activity died long ago because of it.
This game kind of sucks. Apart from the points I made above, even if we had an active community, this game would be mediocre at best. You always hear people say they stay not for the game, but for the community. Well, both the game and the eNL community are not worth staying for.
I don't have a solution to these problems. In fact, I don't think anyone does. If you think you can solve all our problems, please go ahead, but also bear in mind that you might just be trying to resuscitate a rotting corpse. I've seen the country going downhill for over a year, and I've seen a lot of people who wanted to make a difference, myself included, yet none succeeded.
Take a little time to let these thoughts sink in. Then, make the decision if you want to try and improve things or just stop playing. I will do the same. I'm tired of waiting around and not making my mind up about my eRep future.
Kind regards and wishing you the best,
Comments
wait for the alliances module... maybe that will help smaller countries
Here it is. And it is totaly useless:

I agree with you, sad but true. V
Then tell the damn people in congress to stop being such cowards, and let's really try to encourage people to join our country. I'm not Dutch so I can't attempt to do some real life advertisement but I can damn well work on a campaign to encourage foreigners to join our country. If we start doing this we need to let these people in the country instead of finding excuses to reject citizenship applications.
I am right with broersje on this issue and if things do not change I, among with many others, will be forced to leave Netherlands or quit the game.
so the ministry of home affairs is now part of congress?
I'm serious mate. We can bullshit around this topic all we want but if it doesn't get fixed and soon then we are going to be losing a lot more players including myself.

well your 'solution' to let in 25 random strangers with no heart for eNL once a month, will NOT and I will repeat that, since you seem to be quite deaf to reasoning, will NOT solve this issue. Have fun implementing it anyway, it'll do more damage than good.
...just don't say I didn't warn you...
Well the lets have fun part kinda failed since almost every one was dead out here : ) so technically hard to amuse corps.
Exactly the reason why I left eNL... It's sad...
Or we focus on the few people who do want to play it as a game, get involved internationally and make fun together. Can't force people to have fun, but complainting sure won't help.
I had talks with many members who stopped politics, but I already convinced many of them to continue.. So there is a way, talking with everyone personally and yes it takes a lot of my time, but I'm willing to give it. Togheter we can do even more!
Just say and repeat yourself you are having fun, until you have convinced yourself you are having fun or decide to do something else. ; -)
I don't agree our society is dead. Far from it; last few weeks I've seen a few dozen new players that are getting active or want to be. In our political party GPN as well as in the Praetorian Guard NL. And fun is what we have to make the game ourselves!
😁 exactly what I tried to say ; -)
Another 'suicide' in the eNL community. You now have 5 kinds of players in eNL:
1. People who run away to another country after a few months. (Cowards)
2. People who run away to another country after a few/many years. (Respectable players who did their thing for eNL)
3. People who leave the game after a few years playing. (Respectable players who did their thing for eNL)
4. People who leave the game after a few weeks/days playing. (Not interested people)
5. People who DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP FIGHTING FOR THE eNL COMMUNITY!!!
I haven't made my mind up about committing suicide, although that would be my preferred option right now.
I'm non of the above 😛

Failure is an option we have to conisder.
There's still so much to achieve! Just be positive, and get to work on it! That's my motto. 🙂
Enjoy the fun!
Baby boom!
Politics are not interesting to many players because, well, all you do is talk with other politicians about things that, as Broersje pointed out, won't make any sort of impact on the actual game (face it, we'll never be rich, we'll never be big, we'll never be powerful). The actual game isn't interesting because the only way you can do more than work/train/DO every day is to get involved in politics.
Round and round we go.
And before I get spammed to death, sure, eNL can improve. I just don't see it making an impact on the eWorld.
Exactly.
Sad,but true! V Shtula for pres!! ; )
Looks like Poland did a great job'
I could do a great job killing someone 1/10th my size, too 😛.
