How to get that “national shield” mission

Day 2,087, 04:25 Published in Belgium Belgium by Boklevski

The new mission requires you to get some damage the next 7 days. In fact, it requires you to get as much damage as possible the next 7 days. This is a short article (at least I try to keep it short) to explain how, based on a post I found on my wall by Nohjis – thanks, mate!

So before you start hitting that big red “FIGHT”-button to get damage, here’s the trick: Guerilla Fights.

Why should I do that? I never win Guerilla Fights!
Yeah, me neither. Looks like the programming code to match us and the opponents we meet, is specifically written to screw both of us. At least I always end up against some God of War*** with 5 times my strength. And no, even the extra damage to maximized to “only” 4 doesn’t save me in that case.

Still, Guerilla Fights are the way to go in this mission. The damage you get for a Guerilla Fight when losing is 10 times fighting with a Q7 weapon (that would be 100 health). If you get killed in Guerilla Fight, you lose 100 health. So getting killed in a Guerilla Fight gives exactly the same damage per health as fighting with a Q7 weapon…

Well, if you didn’t buy any armor or weapon for the Guerilla Fight at least that saved you about 15 bucks for the Q7 weapons you would have used.

You still didn’t explain why I should Guerilla Fight for damage.
Indeed, there is no advantage in damage done for the mission, unless… you don’t get killed. The Guerilla Fight gives you back any health remaining at the end. So if you survive with 60 health, you have only used 40 health. But you did get the same damage as when you would have used 100 health and Q7 weapons! Meaning you have 60 health more to do another Guerilla Fight and get again that 10x Q7 weapons damage!

How can you survive? Dance around a bit… at least in case you are not planning on fighting. Grab some ‘light’ weapons (DEFINITELY NO SHOTGUN, but say a sniper rifle and sturm rifle) and maybe some boots (they don’t impact your agility – meaning the distance you travel with one click; they costs money and last for only a fixed amount of fights, but they give you some protection against losing health the first hit/hits). Equipping the Type X Sniper Rifle (for 0.08 gold) as primary weapon even increases your agility. Just don’t fire it, as it will disappear the next fight when you’re out of ammo. Then watch your enemy: if he equips a shotgun, run away from him. If he switches to a sniper rifle, rush forward. He might start chasing, but as we have no heavy stuff, we are faster. He’ll have troubles getting you in the optimal range for his weapon, and changing the weapon would cost a turn (enabling us to run towards or away from him again, depending on his new choice). His chances to miss will become huge, so he’ll probably decide to save his ammo for a next fight after one hit.

A guerilla fight lasts for 20 rounds, so stay alive until then and you’ll get the damage for 100 health without losing 100 health!

If I don’t fight, why should I bring a normal sniper rifle and sturm rifle?
I understand the matching code doesn’t favor you, because otherwise you wouldn’t have read all this. However, there is a chance that you meet someone on the battlefield – me, in particular – who is even less favored by the code. So at least you have some weapons to fight when a less strong opponent appears, in an attempt to grab the big damage awards for winning a guerilla fights.

But Guerilla Fights would cost me a lot of time!
Yes. You’re on eRepublik. So stop pretending you have a life and that you actually need your time for things that matter.

That’s it; hope it helps. Go beat that National Shield mission!
