How Not To Run A Forum

What is the first item on the Agenda for our new super revamped Forum?

The Forum that ian arbuckle no doubt put a lot of work into.

The Forum that all groups had hoped would reactivate the social side of the game that eRepublik itself so ignores.

The first item is to ban someone for using the term "Cappy Paddies"

Yes you read that right someone was so appalled by this term that they moved to have the person who used it, Colin Fox, banned from the Congress part of the forum for 48 hours.

Unbelievably the CP and other Government Ministers supported this move.

So there we have it...the fall of another attempt at a forum.
Use it at your peril. If you don't tow the line you WILL be banned.
I for one won't post there again.

********UPDATE********

I am authorised by the ILP PP and Leadership council to issue the following statement

In light of the assurances given by the Forum admin & Mod ian arbuckle that no banning, including within the Congress section, will be carried us on Colin Fox

We will now re-engage with the Forum

We hope this is a lesson on the limits of the authoritarian tenancies within the government that is now fully learned.

Since ILP never really does anything for the Ireland (party leaderahip I mean) we got used to live and take care of the country without your moaning about anything progressive around here.

You wont shut down the forums or the progress we are making.

Ouch! lol... We can hardly do anything as every critique of ours against government policy is considered as treason, abandonment of allies or some other shitty badly thought out accusation. and when everyone who hates what we stand for is sniping at every opportunity to silence one of us (in this case in the form of a forum ban). This government is so 1940's and the most scary part is that they don't even know it. Let's just hope for the sake of this world that these kind of people will never get any form of power in the real world because this is really messed up.

The thing is, ppl actually put time/effort into making these communities better/stronger. And those ppl would really like your help too. They're crying out for participation. But participation is more than just complaining about someone else's efforts. If you're not actually willing to do a spreadsheet, or post an article, or translate some foreign media, then how high do you expect the actual participants to regard your complaints?

48 hour congress section bans are far better than what we had in NL a year ago (permanent 'blacklisting' political opponents). Either way, if you stop visiting the forum you lose. And everyone else.

Banning anyone from the forum isn't really going to help the future of the forum either so I'll be refraining from banning anybody.

Well, Congress hasn't put forward a moderator for that section so therefore I'm still temporary in charge of it.

If he'd learn to stop saying offensive things there would be no need for a ban, every society needs rules, all other countries have forums and bans are voted on and implimented if congress sees fit.

Guess because he is one of yours you have to stick up for him, had it been Conway, Hank, DC or RTK you'd have voted yes in the blink of an eye.

Actually no. In all the times before this where me or in game friends of mine were abused in far far worse ways that this I never once banned or called for a ban on anyone

So Winston, are you agreeing that you had no right to defense in the previous instances, or are you agreeing that Nogin has the right to REQUEST A VOTE for a temporary ban on another player due to perceived a offense?

Nogin is not a member of Congress so she has no right to call for a ban in any instance. Just as Hank has no right to vote.

You as a Congressman do but if it is carried our for trivia just like this then that has consequences.

I'm sure if someone was to transgress in a serious way from normal behaviour a Congressperson would of course take up the case. I look forward to your motions in the future when the usual orc trolls do so.

I did say above that it was the trivial nature of the comment here and the TOTAL overreaction by Nogin and others that lead to the unhappy position that we had to make the stand we did.

Do you equate such serious matters as molestation etc with calling a group "Cappy Paddies"? Seriously?

If you do equate such trivia I do wonder where were you when vile and regular abuse was (is) been dished out to me and others? Maybe sitting on your hypercritical Ar$es?
