EPIC FAIL – THE DEATH OF eCANADA?

We are facing something terrible.
A HUGE amount of players are leaving eCanada, or worst: leaving the game.
The only purpose of this article is to show to all the world the motivation of this terrible “disease” that are now spread all over our country.
1) The Past: The Great Illusion
Some time ago (like an year), this game was new for the great part of us. A new game, with a new perspective. It was not just a war game, it was a life simulator!
How many dreams we had to be a PARTY PRESIDENT, or to be a SOLDIER and defend a country, or even better, to one day become president of the entire Nation?
Well, all this things lost it´s shine, and now too many people here the game lost it fun, creating a huge mass of Zombies, but why? Why such a thing happened?
The answer is in front of us. We got accommodated with the game, we tried to simplify it, and doing it we lost all that great illusion we had.
2)The Present Vision: The XP Seekers
What is to be a soldier now? To log in the Forum and get supplies to boost my xp.
What is to be a congressman now? To win an election and boost my xp.
What is to be a BH now? To win a battle and boost my xp.
What is to be a President now? I don´t know, I just want that medal to boost my medal collection.
What is to be an Ambassador now? TO log in the forum and…hey, there´s no XP on it, so fu** this then, I won´t be an ambassador.
3)The Present Situation: Robot Zombies
We subverted the concepts of the achievements on this game. And of course, because of how WE started to see things, all lost it´s fun!
Let's be frank, 80% of the people in here only cares about it´s XP. Only cares about upgrading it´s level, boosting his strength, and getting money.
This way the game lost it´s magic, and now we have a lot of Robots upgrading themselves to, well, that’s the question…to what?
Soon this is will get so boring, so confuse, so messed up that even the most robotic robots will leave the game, then we will all remember: “I played a game for 3 years, I had a SUPER LEVEL on it and, what a waste of my time, not even I cared about my XP on the end”.
As an example, let´s describe the life of a X player:
First Month: no XP, super noob, discovering the game.
Second Month: no XP, super noob, making plans for the future.
One year: Considerable XP, make some stuff, working hard.
(But then the Robot Zombie Age starts)
Two years: A LOT of XP, making huge damages on Battle to get BH medals, just wanting more XP everywhere!
Third Year: NO XP because leaved the game, watching TV on the sofa, and for some seconds remembering how nice was to play the first year, and how bad and repugnant was the second year, a huge waste of time.
4)The vicious cycle
As game lost it´s fun, people started not to care about ANYTHING. They run for Country President like they drink water, they fight on battles not even looking to see if it´s country is wining or not, or they simply forgot that there’s a newspaper and how awesome was to make or read a good Article, and how awesome was to get 100 votes.
To get some fun, the “Lulz” age started. It is when you definitely kill all the magic we had on the beginning of the game to get some fun.
It means: you kill what gives fun to the game, in order to get fun, and the result in 2 more months of game and then you and your friends leaving computer and going to watch crap TV shows.
Makes sense?
5)Giving back the heart to the Robot
Solution? Well, it is not easy.
A huge strong and brave player would have to pick the lead of eCanada and restore all that old magic and illusion back, making:
I)People remember the REAL importance of the country positions, like Soldier, Ambassador or Country President;
II)Making the Media shine again, strongly trolling bad media or teaching people how to make articles;
III)Boosting the State, creating a LOT of work to a HUGE amount of players, making everyone that wants to get a position to have an opportunity to work for the country.
6)The Future
Well, will this person appear and enter for the history of eRepublik and maybe the history of our RL?
Will the Robots try to get it´s heart back or just boos boost boost boost boost it´s XP in order to leave the game in a few?
Will everyone start to thing about the country again with HUMILITY and PATIENCE, waiting things to happen with no big rush.
7) What are you?
I will be honest with you. You have 95% chance to be a Robot, in fact I could even say: “You are a Robot!” I don´t mean you wanted to be one, but, it just happened!
So, please, in order to make this game fun again, think less on yourself, and get your eHeart back, this way you will win fun, XP, friends, good memories. I mean, this way you will truly WIN something for yourself.
It's time for a strong spirit, it is time for action, it is time for humility, it is time for…….well, you, yes YOU, what do you think it is time for, in order to end with all the crap and make fun and joy come back? Leave in a comment!

Also, you should be aware that yesterday the admins put out an announcment stating they were stripping the exp given to congress members, so now the only reward for getting elected to congress is the 5 gold.

Lavis, noy so much, with the "lulz" age, i saw even many strong players wanting the Canada invasion, or fighting for the enemy, or leaving the congress (or leaving the country).
So yes they are developed citizens, but, our country got stronger with that?

Suba, by troling i mean, not acepting people that forget that they have Shout Box, and make articles.
By troling i mean, you just have to desaprove (in a comment) the person who Spam the Media.
Some parts are bang on - my second year on eRep has consisted exactly of being a zombie.
Also agreed, what's needed is a leader that restores the novelty of the game we started with. Managing the economy, allocating taxes, choosing the battles are all fine and necessary work. However, maintaining the same pattern we have been locked in since we regained our last occupied territory from Phoenix will not give the zombiebot its heart.

I think we dont have a choice is the way the game going.
V2 bring professions, time management (we used to think what is better way to develop urselves), military skills.
Now what we have? Click to work, click to train, get bonus, click to fight, end.
While I agree with all of what is written here, I would add that one of the big reasons people lose interest is that there doesn't seem to be an end goal to pursue OTHER than gaining ranks. I mean there should be - but we have seen EDEN vs. Phoenix for almost two years and its become increasingly pointless. What I'd like is a change to the mpp system to break up the two big alliances, or just get rid of mpps altogether.

excellent, I can agree with basically all of this. I think to some degree it's not about trying to find that magic in the game, it's about making that magic happen by loving the game, mostly the social aspect to it
If players are leaving the game it is because of a flaw in the game itself -> V2 saw many players leave; although, i have seen quite the opposite after 1.5 😁

I loved working as an ambassador and love working in the cabinet in eSA. The best part of erepublik is outside the game. IRC, Forums, all that.

Everyone has suffered because of the constant changing of modules of the game,it is a global problem,not only of Canada.
