eCanada's Foreign Policy: A Plea to our CP

Day 1,759, 21:58 Published in Canada Canada by Wilhelm Gunter

Admittedly, eCanada is in a place where we have never found ourselves, at least not in my 3 years in this game: we are not a member of any international alliance. TERRA is no more; we withdrew from the European Defence & Economic Network (EDEN) many months ago.

Our friends have gone through a bit of change as well: the strongest relationship we ever had – with our Bros to the south – is now more a hint of suspicion cast by each side towards the other, always keeping an open eye on what the other is doing. Our closest friends currently – France, Portugal and Germany – have been fiercely loyal to us, but they are middling to small nations, much like us, and all three are fighting off foreign invaders - fiercely loyal, but largely impotent to help us if the need were to arise. We are essentially alone.

So in this setting, our CP signs a couple of MPP’s that made more than a few people scratch their heads.

The first was with Indonesia, historically a strong member of ONE and currently a pro-ONE non member, who currently has Mutual Protection Pacts (MPP’s) with Serbia and Hungary – longtime enemies of eCanada. Indonesia is currently in a war against Croatia, one of the core members of EDEN and still a reliable friend of ours. The fact that the current CP of Indonesia is a former President of eCanada – temujinBC should not really be a factor. In fact, if I had to guess, many Indonesians are probably upset with their current president over his MPP with us. Might we end up with an MPP with Indonesia and an anti-Canada CP?

And then Wally signs an MPP with Paraguay. This causes even more head scratching among many. A small nation, and on the surface – insignificant, but their MPP list is a Who’s Who of ONE and their friends. And to spend
$10 000 on a seemingly frivolous venture, when MU funding is reduced and perhaps eliminated?

All the while that our CP takes us in new, but very unclear directions, our loyal friends France and Germany are at war – France with Macedonia, and Germany with Lithuania, and both of those nations also having a host of ONE MPP’s.

I raised this issue in Congress, and got no response from our CP. Our VP did respond, but his response did not include anything related to military alliances or where our foreign policy was headed. His response did not provide any answers.

[Edit: Mary Chan is our VP, not Rolo Tahmasse, as I incorrectly believed when I wrote the above paragraph. It was Rolo who responded to my inquiry in Congress, not Mary Chan]

So, now I publicly challenge our CP:

Why are we signing military alliances with our traditional enemies, and ignoring our friends when they need our help? Why is our Campaign of the Day to fight against Croatia?

Why haven’t you communicated to eCanada about your Foreign Policy aspirations? Why haven’t you at least told Congress this? Why are you ignoring our friends in France and Germany, not to mention Portugal, who is perpetually at war with our common enemy Spain?

On the surface, President Cleaver, your actions seem a tad incoherent and lacking any sense of grand purpose. Perhaps there is a method to your madness. And perhaps there isn’t. We eCanadians just simply do not know.

All that is being asked of you is some explanation, some clarification, some assurance that there is a plan, and that you are not messing up our foreign policy and destroying our relationships with our traditional allies and friends. Assure us you have not wasted $20 000.

And most importantly, we want to know that you are not moving us towards, or into ONE. That is something I am sure most eCanadians do not support.

What do you say, Mr. President?
