Destined Tension

Day 2,044, 01:26 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Unwanted Houseguests

Obviously, the greatest battle as of late. USA has been invaded by everyone and their mothers, and have yet to win a MPP battle. Yet, despite the multiple fronts and the deceptive set of victories, a full American wipe seems oh so slightly out of reach. Serbs, Hungarians, and Poles have had no trouble waltzing into America and taking lands with little issue, but the rest have struggled. In one of the closest fights in the early campaign, America seized Texas from Thai control, before relinquishing it once more to their enemy. Montenegro and Taiwan have also encountered fierce resistance in RWs. United Kingdom has not gone of unscathed either, having to retake New York a few times as resistance constantly threatens to kick them back out of the Americas.

All the invading nations still have real estate on Yankee soil, yet it still remains to be seen whether America is either successfully holding off their foes or is merely prolonging the inevitable. Even Serbia, with problems at home (more to come later), has struggled as of late, losing North Carolina and Georgia under siege. America may not be able to hold on for much longer, but they're buying plenty of time for backup to arrive. Will it, though?

Clash Within the Titans

Did anyone expect TWO to last long without internal conflict? Bringing many nations in left and right, little uniting them all other than an insatiable desire for resources, TWO has finally had its first conflict. It was clear that with so many nations invading USA, not all would get their piece of the pie. The Taiwanese and Thais proceeded to invade another CoT nation nearby: Mexico. However, being part of ROLA, this created tension between TWO and ROLA's big member, Spain. Having to choose between the two sides was inevitable for Spain, knocking it off its perfect axis. Spain decided, in the end, to support ROLA, dealing a possibly fatal blow to its relations with TWO. For now, there have been no public repercussions dealing with Spain, but there has been a mystique of dissent in the public. Croatia notably attempted to MPP the Spaniards, suddenly looking like outcasts, though the proposal was shot down in Spanish congress. Nevertheless, for Croatia to have the gall and audacity to even propose it says wonders for Spain's shape in diplomatic affairs.

As for the invasion itself, it has gone off without a hitch, for the time being. Thai and Taiwanese colonies are falling apart in America, but they have been trading them successfully for Mexican ones. Mexico remains standing, but it may not be for much longer. The Mexicans, also having to deal with Colombia in the south, may be doomed if nothing changes soon. Perhaps Spain can be of assistance?

A Glimmer of Hope

Tensions are rustling, as something fun is about to happen. Am I going to tell you? What am I, a mystic? Man your weapons, eCan! Get ready for some fun! But what? …that's classified 😉

Slovenian Rhapsody

...bad title. Atrocious. But meh, Neither relatively stable like UK nor overwhelmingly powerful like Serbia, Slovenia has been seen by many anti-TWO nations as susceptible to attack. And their weakness showed, as Italy mounted a small offensive in RWs, taking two regions in the south while Switzerland snuck in a region of their own. Slovenia has since fought off Italy, wiping them in the north, and proceeded to battling Switzerland, in what appears to be a lockdown victory. However, due to circumstances, Croatia RW'd a region in Serbia, and has prepared to strike the Slovenians while Serbia is off doing other things. During that time, it's reasonable to assume the Italians and Swiss will come back for more. Will Serbia come in and intervene, or will Slovenia's empire be a time bomb ticking towards implosion? Empires are easy come, easy go…

Boom POW Counterattack

What happened to Serbia's furious charge into American territory? It was going so well, then out of a comic, POW went POW. The military unit celebrated its fourth anniversary by flipping a bird at ol' Serbia. Timing its attack with resistance in the Balkans, the resistance in Apulia was a resounding success, beating off considerable Serbian forces and splicing the vast far-spreading empire into two. Similar attacks struck Albania and Croatia, the former of which took Tirana by storm, liberating the region from the Serbs. Losing the bonuses and landbridge to America was last on Serbia's bucket list, and they have since started a campaign on Italy, retaking Apulia, and presumably finish off the job they started months ago with the occupation of southern Italy. However, with a few regions to churn through, it will waste Serbia a vast amount of time, while other nations harass the other chunks of Serb land. Can Italy's sacrifice be worth it, or will it be for naught?

Luck of the Irish

Notice the yellow marks in the British Isles? No, it's not someone who spilled lemonade on the couch. It's Ireland! And don't worry, the Brits ain't comin for them. The two sides reached an agreement, allowing Ireland to retain its current regions (the others shall remain under British rule). Ireland also has a clause allowing them to retake Cork upon request. The deal works for both sides. Ireland, fierce in resistance wars but hopeless in actual MPP battles, can have secure congress, not having to fear its next door neighbor. After all, the Brits wouldn’t be going anywhere anyway. The Brits get free fruit from the deal, and less pesky enemies planning to undermine them. Why wouldn't Ireland quickly take back Cork? Simple! Ireland is using UK as a barrier, protecting them from Spanish invasion. Despite what it may appear, Brits and Irish have a gentlemanly relationship, on opposite sides yet remaining a degree of class between them. This deal was a long time coming, but finally, both sides can move on to better and more worthwhile things. The deal should last until next term.

Peace by War

Remember when Macedonia appeared to have the upper hand, and Bulgaria had full dominion over Egypt and southern Saudi Arabia? Unfortunately for the CoT nations, it seems as if their time in the Middle East may be over. Turkey cut through southern Iran, borrowing regions from their ally, and rushed into northern Saudi Arabia, occupied by Macedonia. Though the Macedonians had the advantage in the early battles, depleting the Turkish treasury with bloody victories, the momentum soon faded, as Macedonia was painstakingly kicked out of their host family UAE, isolated into a small chunk of land in Saudi Arabia, primed for Greek attack.

Bulgaria has had it even worse. Though they appeared to have a nice time relaxing in Egyptian and Saudi lands, Greece came knocking, and they brought trouble. Little the Bulgarians could do, as Greece shifted its Bulgarian core regions over to Romania, while conquering the Middle Eastern regions with ease. Now, Bulgaria is wiped, while Macedonia is hanging on by a thread, both empires in shambles. It appears that the end is near for these CoT powers.

Paki Power

Unlike Bulgaria, Macedonia saw a little gap in its quickly closing doorway. Seizing the opportunity, the Macedonians started building up its airstrike fund, looking for an opportunity. However, in the calamity, a proposal was put forward, preparing to airstrike Pakistan. Though it was originally not supported, it was pushed through in the last moments by the government. Unfortunately for Macedonia, it was nowhere near organized, and many normally neutral players, like Croatia, fought to protect their small ally. Though Pakistan is a small nation in NaN, they received oodles of support, repelling the mighty Macedonian paratroopers. Notably, besides the normal NaN and TWO players supporting Pakistan, as well as nations such as Greece and Turkey, rivals of the Macedonians, the Croatia blob also supported Pakistan, and certainly had a role in the final outcome. Macedonia appears to be scrambling at this point, and its blunder with the airstrike shows.

The Final ACT

The family grows a bit more! As TWO expands in land, it also expands diplomatically, as the alliance brought a few more nations under its puppetry dominion. Greece, Australia, and New Zealand have all joined forces to fight CoT.

Greece is known for its long-term rivalry with Macedonia (inb4hurrhurrIT'SFYROM), and they've put aside their distrust with Serbia from their days in EDEN to battle what they believe is the greater foe. Whether it works out is to be seen, but the early results look good. A mighty empire in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and wiped Bulgaria appears to shine bright for the Greeks.

Australia's entry is mired in controversy, as the NaN founder left their offspring despite previous hopes of integrating deeper into their alliance. However, what's passed is in the past, and Australia is hoping to move on from their experiment, and gather allies to fight its occupiers. What remains to be seen, however, is how well they can keep their old allies in NaN.

New Zealand went the path of Lithuania, leaving CoT to join ACT. Once again, CoTWO worked well, but though the duet split, the two sides, in some cases, fit better in one than the other. A Serbian-populated country, the New Zealanders decided that the way the Australia situation was handled wasn't to their liking, and decided to swap sides, teaming up with Australia instead of taking them down. Whether or not the switch will benefit them is unknown, but with the entire world leaning TWO, it may have been a smart move.
Yeah, I'm writing still.

By the way, I'm headed up to Canada for a month or so (til the 23rdish, when I'm back in town). It'd be fitting if I ran the country while up there.

However, a few things of note. I'm driving up, not flying, so the travel days means I'd be out of commission. Also, I don't trust the internet enough to be able to be online all the time, especially with IRC and how finicky it is. And finally, it's family time, so naturally I'll be away for chunks to spend some time with folks. If you guys still want me to run things, lemme know and I'll be your puppeteer. If not, I can always just be MoFA again :3

Until next time, take care!
