Day 1085 - UK hold off double pronged Irish attack.

Day 1,085, 11:45 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Norfolk
South West of England was secured by United Kingdom in the war versus Ireland.

Wales was secured by United Kingdom in the war versus Ireland.

During day 1084, Ireland launched two attacks against the UK in Wales and South West of England. After 10 and 8 hours respectively the UK saw victory with ease as they won all but two mini-battles over both battles. Ireland had the benefit of an American and Croatian MPP against the UK’s assortment of 11 MPPs so it was never going to be a challenge for the UK considering the other battles raging across the globe.

International:

Since day 1081 the France/Brazil Vs Spain war has swung in Phoenix’s favour and both France and Brazil have capitalised with Brazil holding 4 Native Spanish regions and France currently holding 6 Spanish regions including Madrid, the Spanish capital.

Spain currently hold 7 regions of their original 17 regions, however Spain are staging a counter attack with decent leads in two occupied regions. Where does this war go from here? It looks like Spain have managed to gain the upper hand however time will tell if it lasts and if Spain can stop another wave attacks from the two Phoenix powers.

Military in chaos?

For those of you who may not have heard, a few weeks ago a high ranking Military commander went rogue and stole all active companies held by the British Army. Soon afterwards, Congress passed legislation securing the remaining Military assets - a controversial move in itself - despite Military efforts to secure assets. For the following weeks there was discussion over the level of security in contrast to the militaries ability to function. Eventually a bill was agreed on by both sides and the Military got ready to reform itself while trying to keep congress happy with security levels.

However it became apparent that the reform had not had its desired effect and pressure from congress mounted on the shoulders of the current CGS, Artela, and there was evidence that elements within congress were planning to attempt to remove her. Following this information, Artela stepped down to avoid a confrontation between the Military and Congress.

Now we have come to a point where the public and politicians alike are debating whether or not the system needs reverting to a MoD style to keep the Military accountable to the government. We also have the Home Guard being set up by Sir Humphrey Appleby which has gained a little momentum early on, which could damage the Army’s ability to recruit and keep numbers up. Meanwhile the Military is looking to improve itself under its new administration with another reform possible. This all leads to a pretty hectic time to be involved with the Military on all levels and it will be interesting to see where this situation goes from here, with new twists occurring daily, it’s an interesting but worrying time for the UK Military.
