Unmarked Lines That Most Everyone See

There are some citizens in the eUSA who claim to wear the mantle of patriot when in truth they could not care less about their fellow citizens or the country as a whole. To most players in eRepublik there are certain lines you do not cross: you don't fight against your country or alliance unless ordered to do so from the very top, you don't reveal the long-term military or diplomatic plans of your country or alliance if you are privy to them and you don't grant citizenship to members of countries with whom you battle. These lines are fairly straightforward and obvious. Most would not even think twice about abiding by them. Notice that I said most.




Houston, We Have a Huge Problem

When I was elected party president of the NCP I arrived with a platform to build the party towards acceptance and respectability, not to mirror the other parties or become just like them but to prevent continuous PTO/ATO action against it in the future. I laid out some concrete steps to get there and seemed to encounter a hesitant, but mostly accepting membership willing to give me a chance to prove myself.

Unfortunately Pizza the Hut II's plans to import voters via sympathetic members of Congress and their ability to grant citizenship changed my plan. He has openly admitted on many occasions that he fully intends to pack the eUS Congress with as many people who will grant citizenship to foreign players in order to vote for him for president, maintain power over this party and control of Congress.

Note that the second discussion is between Pizza and a Serbian citizen. Also note that Pizza is very open about his plan in both discussions.

I have always stated that I will never lie to the members of the NCP. I believe it is important for people to be exposed to as much information and opinion as possible. I believe that part of the problem is that the NCP was extremely insular and kept so on purpose; members on average didn't mingle outside of the party, didn't join MUs outside of the AED, and thus were in a feedback loop of sorts where whatever story was produced was accepted.

So upon beginninng the planning for Congressional elections I was confronted with a two-dimensional problem: Pizza the Hut II's very brazen and public plan to essentially PTO the eUSA with Serbian help (his words, see the links above) and that I had no clue who in the party supported this plan or not.

I am quite certain that this party is at a crossroads. There are ten members who went to another party to find spots for Congress, recruited by Pizza the Hut II. I can only assume that these members are supportive of his plan. There are approximately another three dozen that have been identified, some by myself and some with the help of others, as being supportive of Pizza the Hut II's plan. I am certain there are more remaining as yet unidentified. Those that are identified will probably never be allowed to run for Congress again, at least, not as long as there is a sane party president in charge of a Top 5 party. They will (and already have) become political pariahs.

I cannot in good conscience allow anyone I cannot explicitly trust to run for Cognress. Therefore I will take the risk of thoroughly angering most of the party by denying spots to members that I do not personally know. I will repeat this: very few NCP members will be given Qualified or official status; most will be blocked out. I am sorry that it has come to this, but the safety and security of the eUSA comes first. Country, Party, Self, in that order for me.

I only wish that other members of the party kept the same order of importance for those. I believe that Pizza and a few dozen others have the order reversed. And because of this the rest of the party will suffer the consequences.




A Cautionary Tale

This is a cautionary tale about being mindful of whose company you keep. Some players in this game are quite personable and charismatic and use that for both good and bad purposes. Unfortunately the nature of a game like eRepublik is such that your reputation is all you have. If you have earned a poor or negative reputation then you are shut out of opportunities and power. Such as it is in life, it is doubly so in eRep for there are very few ways in which one can rehabilitate a reputation.

The eUSA will be forced in the coming days to take drastic measures to deny Pizza and his supporters the opportunity to attempt or achieve their goals. The NCP is not the only part of eUSA society that will pay a steep price. It will be, however, far lasting for the NCP than we can realize at this moment.

This is not what I intended to ever happen yet somehow I expect that the members of the NCP will not be willing to accept this from me. Nor, in addition, do I expect them to accept my apology or heartfelt sadness at this turn of events. For those so willing, the party will remain open to you, although I cannot guarantee that members will all be able to run for Congress in the future; that will depend upon trustability, the outcome of background investigations and vetting as well as member's willingness to be forthcoming with me.
