Congress Member Listing December

Day 1,853, 12:40 Published in Canada USA by Michael 23

I really enjoy being engaged in the politics of the game, debating on forums, and seeing the opinions posted by others. I enjoy being a part of the reasonable decision making progress to make sure eCanada’s economy is great and vibrant, that we have our MU funding and that we’re a strong and selfless ally. I think that proper policies on our taxes, foreign affairs, MU finding and our player retention are key to making sure that eCanada has a bright future amongst the other nations in the game.

Taxes and Financial Sustainability

A strong economy and fair taxation are key to a prosperous nation and I think eCanada is headed in the right direction. Recently, taxes were raised to 15% VAT on weapons and 25% on food. Additionally, import taxes were raised to 10%.

I was a strong proponent for raising import taxes to keep foreigners out and to support our producers that fund our primary markets like WRM and salaries. While the VAT and import taxes together substantially reduced the profits for importers, prices have not declined and some still choose to import into our markets. The net impact is greater funding for our eCanadian government that helps us fund our MUs while similarly getting the foreigners to think twice about dropping large quantities of weapons or food that prevents our producers from selling their goods sooner.

I believe the weapons VAT rate is perfect. A 15% rate is neither too high nor too low helping us to further our daily income to supply our MUs with funding while not being a bearing weight on producers. The 25% VAT rate on food seems a bit too high but it in fact does not even bring in the same income as a 15% VAT on Q7 weapons. Nevertheless, while I would’ve probably aimed at 20%, we all agreed to 25% through debate and collaboration and that’s what it’s all about. Everyone is closely monitoring the changes in the market viewing what kind of an impact this has made and seeing whether changes are necessary.

All in all, while our daily income had plummeted before under VAT rates of 10%, it has steadily increased now and there is enough money to fund our MUs and to sign our MPPs. This is all thanks to the collaboration of many congressmen from different parties.

MU Improvements

I believe in equal and fair funding for all approved MUs. I have supported the move by our congressmen to have proposals put through by MUs to get them approved for funding. Those that have been approved can be found on the forum and these are many MUs in eCanada including but not limited to the CAF, COI, TCO, Night’s Watch, HOPE, IL, and others. Further, I have been a strong supporter of MUs focusing on self-sufficiency and this is what other congressmen have supported as we aimed at making the Temporary MU Funding Act permanent. These documents can be found on the forum.

I believe in fair and equitable funding for approved MUs and this is what I will continue to support well into the future, with a focus on not pushing forth any suggestions or policies that would make it strenuous for MUs to follow or deal with but for them to allocate their funds as they see fit. I do believe that it’s in the best interests of MUs to make themselves more self-sufficient and many have already made significant strides while all major MUs have made some efforts at becoming self-sufficient in terms of developing communes or slavepits.

Foreign Affairs and Alliances

It has long been my goal for us to be allied with eUSA once again after our MPPs parted ways with passing presidents and changing interests. That goal might seem very far away for now due to significantly changed interests in terms of the eUSA’s focus on their alliances and broships with countries like eBrazil and alliances that included countries like eSpain and even ePoland at one time, but nevertheless there might be a possibility in the future for us to ally. I will look forward to this and will work towards this as well.

In the meanwhile, I will focus on our country’s direction at maintaining our current MPPs and our focus to remain a strong and selfless ally with our all of our allies and especially countries that fought hard for us like ePortugal, eRomania, eColumbia, eIreland and others. My goal is to work on foreign relations in such a way as to make sure eCanada is positioned strategically in the international stage and to make sure that the alliance we belong to in is as good for eCanada as eCanada is for it. Due to possible strategic interest of eCanada we might also be allied with our long-term neighbor and an ally of the past, the eUSA. As our strategic interests align I might be able to help realize the goal of allying with eUSA while also placing eCanada strategically on the eworld stage by working towards these alliances with fellow congress members.

Game Recruitment

eRepublik seems to attract only certain types of players and it seems to retain even less as some are not attracted to this long time-based game. However, the major problem in retention is that new players are not aware of the wealth of information available for them to succeed nor the level of help that they could get from more experienced players. It’s our job to make sure that they have the resources to succeed.

I think the most important issue is making sure that the people in the game who do sign up, actually end up staying. While providing them with food and weapons helps and motivates them to stay on especially as they probably feel a greater sense of the eCanadian community, I think that helping them learn how to become self-sufficient in the game is more of a factor in helping them stay. We're all different and the players may have joined the game for a variety of reasons, but I think that letting them know early on where to look for information, who to ask for food or weapons, or who to get into contact with in terms of finding their way around the game is key. I have personally funded the newer players with tanks and food, especially during RWs. I've also helped them by informing them of our supplies and providing them with the CAF border/insignia together with people to turn to, to help them add the insignia/border. I have also contributed to other’s food drives as well as other supply means in ensuring our newer players have better supplies. However, this only goes a certain distance in retaining new players and I think it’s more important to provide them with the knowledge to succeed.

While various people have written articles through time about building up and growing in the game, they are scattered all over and a person has to themselves look for them through the wiki or Google searches. They may or may not be motivated to do so, and I think a possible suggestion is to provide them with several links or some information where they can look this up or a link to the eCanada forum with a page on all the information they need. It would be nice if they had a link in their welcome message to the page with all of the information they need to get ahead. Other suggestions are possible and I'm sure I can do more to retain new players as a congress member especially by working with other congress members.

Internal Party Activity

The CPF is one of the most appealing parties to me in eCanada. We have policies and guidelines about our approach to matters and at the same time are free to voice our opinions and debate before we come to consensus and a general unified voice as we also stand behind our party president. I have been involved in our debates to a significant extent while listening to the posts of others from our party feed and on the forum. I think I am involved to a significant extent within the party and I also enjoy our collaboration with other parties as we strike out to make agreements for the betterment of eCanada. I plan on being even more involved during any tenure as congressman and making significant strides at collaborating within our own party while also making a significant effort at healthy collaboration with other parties and congressmen in terms of reaching consensus in passing bills.

I would like to be listed for congress and I hope to be elected into congress. I think consensus and debates are critical as we venture out to pass bills for the betterment of eCanada. Right now we’re on a great path and with careful monitoring of our policies we can make the necessary changes to continue to succeed and have eCanada even surpass our best expectations. Our focus on taxes and financial sustainability, MU funding and improvements, our foreign relations and player retention will be key to our long-term success.
