Around the World #19; On the Road to Singapore City (or Not)

Day 1,786, 00:56 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

The Serbian Invasion
Before

After

Belligerents: China vs. Serbia
Results: Imagine Serbia as the bully of the neighborhood that constantly runs around and messes up everyone else's property. Now, imagine China as the one with the shotgun that yells at Serbia, "GET OFF MA LAWN!" Is it in your head? Good! China went 5 for 5 in the head-on battles, first defending their western border and then going on the offensive, and has pushed Serbia to the brink of defeat. After all that effort to reach the Chinese, it's inconceivable that Serbia would let their front collapse so easily, yet the Chinese are holding the wall with skill. If Serbia doesn't start sending the big guns, this could mean the end for their journey.

Winner (this week): China
Winner (campaign): China (devastating)

The Alphabet Wars
Before

After

The Finnish-Estonian War of Monotony
Belligerents: Finland vs. Estonia, Latvia
Results: Finland could have been completely wiped by the team of Estonia and Latvia, so avoiding such a fate was good on their part. However, they certainly didn't do anything worthy of praise. They certainly didn't lose all their progress, but they're only down to a single chunk of Estonian land. Estonia has been powering back all their provinces with a long-lost passion, no doubt from Latvian support. Finland is holding feverishly onto the last foothold, but everything else has fallen. Now that it's back to a 1v1 fight again, it's possible that Finland may regain the upper hand, but it hasn't happened yet.

Winner (this week): Estonia, Latvia
Winner (campaign): Finland (minor)

The Swedish Liberation of Belarus
Belligerents: Sweden, Belarus, Germark, Ukraine vs. Lithuania, Hungary, Moldova

Results: It's one huge war, isn't it? Basically, Lithuania is doing the exact same thing as last time. By attacking and capturing Swedish Scania, the Lithuanians have left themselves open to a Germarkian attack, which has since commenced. Luckily for the ABC side, Lithuania has also cleared out Belarus from its southern provinces, and down in the south, Hungary and Moldova are making Ukraine's quest for independence a living hell. Once again, it may be up to Germark to save Asgard from utter destruction. Just join Asgard already, Germark! You know you wanna!

Winner (this week): Lithuania, Hungary, Moldova
Winner (campaign): Sweden, Belarus, Germark, Ukraine

The Cromanian Day at the Beach
Before

After

Belligerents: Croatia, Romania vs. Indonesia, Thailand
Results: While Croatia was busy playing tag with Thailand (apparently it's a training war but I'll use it as propaganda to make the Croats seem invincible. So yeah, go Croatia! But a little bit south, Romania battled to take down the last remnants of Indonesia, and while they succeeded in the Lesser Sunda Islands, they've been harassed constantly by threatening RWs which the Romulans Romanians can barely contain. While Croatia has fun in Thailand, it'll be a test for the Romanians to continue the European invasion. Also, ~we're on the road to Singapore City~~~! (No one? Really?!)

Winner (this week): Croatia, Romania
Winner (campaign): Croatia, Romania (devastating)

The Colombian Surprise
Before

After

Belligerents: Colombia vs. Venezuela, Mexico
Results: Colombia is still alive, which is a triumph of note. But although it might be hard to overstate their satisfaction of still holding out, it's hard to ignore that Colombia's been torn apart. The Mexicans finally stopped hemorrhaging lands back to Colombia and set up a clear line of provinces that hasn't been broken, while their Venezuelan partners have made equal gains, recapturing their previous borders. The Venezuelans also began their land rental with Spain once again, with the European superpower reclaiming Guyana from their Venezuelan allies. While Colombia hasn't folded just yet, they'll only feel fantastic if they're still alive this time next week. If only they could make a portal out of their doomed region...too much?

Winner (this week): Venezuela, Mexico
Winner (campaign): Venezuela, Mexico

The Macedonian Nightmare
Before

After

The Invasion of Aquitaine

Belligerents: USA vs. Macedonia
Results: There's rarely anything as easy as clicking the attack button and getting a free province within 24 hours. And America's living the dream! FYROM is running away from the American forces, and unlike last time, they can't even secure a proper revolt! America has been free to capture the rest of Southern France, and has moved up to secure the Swiss colonies as well, and have faced no resistance at all. If America can hold its pathway into Italy open, it might as well be bye-bye Macedonian Empire! However, there is still some hope left for the Macedonians. That is, if they ever stopped running away...

Winner (this week): USA
Winner (campaign): USA

The Albanian Liberation

Belligerents: Albania vs. Macedonia
Results: And yes, FYROM is fighting here instead of against America. A more winnable battle, to be sure, but it makes no difference to the Albanians. When the greatest annoyance the Albanians have to face is the Italy RWs, there's something wrong with FYROM's army. Despite Apulia falling back into Italian hands and cutting off the main front from Albanian headquarters, it's made little, if any difference. FYROM continues to search for answers that just aren't popping up, and Albania's making them pay. Now if only they could take back Tirana...

Winner (this week): Albania
Winner (campaign): Albania

The Argentinian Pursuit
Start

Belligerents: Argentina vs. Chile, New Zealand
Results: Argentina started off their pursuit of Chile very well. Absolutely demolishing the frail wall separating Argentina from their major rivals in New Zealand, Argentina had hoped to continue the smooth sailing and destroy Chile and free Australia in its fullest form. But alas, things weren't meant to be. Chile's massive D1 and D2 forces were bolstered by enough victories in the higher divisions to secure not only their Australian property (save Queensland, recaptured by rebel Aussie forces), but prepare to chase Argentina across the Pacific once again, as Argentina owns but one province left. Argentina really needs to hold on, both for Australia's sake and their own.

Winner (this week): Argentina (minor)
Winner (campaign): Argentina (minor)

MINOR WARS

The Italian Reestablishment
Before

After

Belligerents: Italy vs. Slovenia
Results: Albania earned their EDEN support, to be sure, but at the cost of Italy's campaign for some foothold in the north. As a result, Slovenia had little effort defeating their Italian rebels, as province by province fell to Slovenian forces, ultimately pushing Italy all the way out, forcing the Italian army to only deal with their little trek in the south. However, due to a successful Italian revolt in Macedonian Liguria (thanks in large part to FYROM themselves), Italy once again has a chance to recapture their northern lands. But it looks unlikely that the Italians will get enough support to keep Liguria from Slovenia's paws. And yes, same photo. Problem?

The Bosnian-Montenegrin Border War
Before

After

Belligerents: Bosnia, Italy vs. Montenegro
Results: Montenegro won't ease off, will they? Despite Bosnia defeating their southern neighbors soundly, it's been tough for the fragile nation to hold down Montenegro. Although the Montenegrins have in no stretch of the imagination been a threat, they've certainly been a bother, as the second successful revolt in as many weeks prompted Italy to attack the coast. However, the more major revelation is Serbia's imminent attack on Bosnia, which could very well shake things up, to say the least. As it stands for now, however, Bosnia controls most of Montenegro, and Italy may clean up the rest.
