Tax reduction analysis:
Tax revenues of 13,372.31 through Apr 14th 17:00 (14.7 days)
Average of 909.68 per day, before income tax cut
Tax revenues of 13,198.89 from Apr 14th 17:00 through Apr 30th 14:00 (13.9 days)
Average of 949.56 per day, with 1% income tax in the four main industries.
The income tax cut had no appreciable effect on tax revenues.
Because VAT already accounted for the majority of tax revenues, an income tax cut did not affect eIreland's accounts very much. In fact, the tax cut allowed Joe 2-click to have more money in his pocket and increase his consumption. Any revenue loss from income tax was counteracted by that increase in consumption which lead to increased VAT collections.
edit: I was asked "Why are VAT collections a larger portion of tax revenue?"
It is a simple factor of availability. Income tax can be collected up to once per day, per person employed in eIreland. That's it, there can be no collections after everyone works for the day. There is a top limit to the number of income tax collections. There is no limit to the number of market transactions that can take place, so there are far more opportunities to collect VAT. There is no top limit to the number of market sales per day.
Comments:
I hope this report will allay the fears of people who thought the income tax cut would slash revenues. Our tax revenue was roughly the same, before and after the tax cut to 1% across the board. I hope we can reduce the food income tax back to 1% before the raw material changeover happens. (I'm hoping an affable TD will read this and make the proposal)
I would also like to point something out to everyone who claimed the IA is a major drain on our tax revenues. We made over 28,k IEP in revenue and spent more than that on ta
😜aid MPP's (USA, Bosnia, Italy). The IA needed ZERO tax money, and I doubt they will need any in the near future. They are standing strong on their own.

This is a catch-all category. It includes public donations to the NIB, and the MoF's work in the monetary market. It includes any donations from the NIB to organizations like the IA, or the Irish Community's efforts. In the end, the NIB spent 93 more gold than it earned, but received 14,k more IEP than it spent. We essentially earned 150 IEP for each gold we spent. All in all, I think the MoF did good work.
Thanks:
Thank you Marcus and Dubth and Seanan for putting up with my annoying mails this month. I needed their help to get all the information about who paid what, and when. Thank you, guys.
I would like to do this article every month. Now that you have seen the first version, you guys know what kind of information I need. I hope that future CP's, MoF's, and vatious eIreland benefactors will be helpful, and mail me with info about donations, and expenditures, and any other info that will help.
footnote: Transactions between NIB and CF are denoted with "{letter}" so you can match the same transaction on the two different balance sheets.
P.S. I don't doubt I have made some arithmetic error or typo or mis-attributed a certain transaction. I inevitably forget to carry the 3, or miss a decimal in a paper like this. Please mail me with any corrections, so I may edit the article.

Sorry for messing with taxes mid-data collection!
But good article. Sub'd.
It's okay Seanan.
A 2 week sample of all 1% income tax was enough to show the tax cut did not hurt us. In fact, it was a good thing to help our average, 2-click citizens.
Your doing good work. Some of this information anyone could find if they really tried.
I'm uncomfortable with THIS level of information being published
Almost all of this information is just from looking at the public account balances, and looking at the donation & MPP proposals that are accepted. I just documented it in one place for a little transparency in our government.
I also had to do this to convince people the tax cut did not "slash" tax revenues. If I did not show that tax revenue was unharmed by the income tax cut, my work to help the average citizen would have been quickly undone. The article also defends against claims that the IA spends all our tax money (looks around for Gonzo).
Nice work Bhane. It's not easy reading but it's easier than finding the info yourself if you had the need to.
If you plan on doing this every month, maybe the next administration could give you a position in government as the auditor or something. That way you would have ready access to the information you need.
Bhane thanks for your hard work on this, it is a good level of detail on our last months finances.
"It's not easy reading"
Yeah, I'm a numbers guy, and I'm not very eloquent. Sorry 'bout that.
Not complaining Bhane 😛
It's pretty much impossible to make numbers poetic, haha.
It's not about the money, money, money...
Not bad stuff. But should there not be a separate section titled "admin-bought gold"
This is really good...really really good.
Made me sub and vote anyway...🙂
Very nice article. However, I see some contradiction here (apart from the fact that last month the IA received 7k IEP and put forward a - later indeed withdrawn - request for 90 Gold and 9k IEP):
"The IA needed ZERO tax money, and I doubt they will need any in the near future. They are standing strong on their own."
"It includes any donations from the NIB to organizations like the IA, or the Irish Community's efforts."
"I'm uncomfortable with THIS level of information being published"
And I've been uncomfortable with this level of info NOT being published.
Nobody informed me of any IA withdrawals from the NIB. This is only a my first report, that few people knew the details of. Now that I have put it forth (and people see what kind of info I need), I hope people will inform mail me with info for a more detailed report next month.
If the IA did receive 7k, I would note that IA members have donated more than 7k to other MPP's, which more than compensates for that. The bottom line is that none of April's tax revenues were spent on the IA companies/supplies, since it all went to MPP's.
We were in deficit spending mode this month with MPP's. Perhaps we could be a bit more judicious in choosing just 3-4 key MPP's to maintain
Very good work !
"If the IA did receive 7k, I would note that IA members have donated more than 7k to other MPP's, which more than compensates for that. The bottom line is that none of April's tax revenues were spent on the IA companies/supplies, since it all went to MPP's."
No, the 7k was in March, I do not know about current fiscal figures either. Donating for MPPs is a completely different issue, I1've also donated for MPPs, and apart from that -unlike the IA - I also pay taxes and have never received any funding from the state (well, I got 50 IEP as the prize for the Community Award). The IA - as an economic unit - evades income tax & Vat, and occasionally receives state funding. I1m not taking position here about that being good or bad, just noting that a statement like "The IA needed ZERO tax money, and I doubt they will need any in the near future. They are standing strong on their own." is a pretty false implication - considering that it was in April they requested state funding of 9k IEP and ~70 Gold for an expansion project - later indeed withdrawn.
Well, I am not privy to the IA particulars, since I am not in the clique. I also paid no attention to March, since April is the first month I have ever done this. I can definitely say that none of April's tax revenues went to IA companies/supplies. Hopefully, I can get more detailed info next month, now that people are aware I'm doing this.
You are right about the tax evasion. Working for minimum wage, and handing out supplies through donations is an easy way to avoid tax expenses. The IA does take advantage of that system. They avoid helping the CF revenues through taxes, but they do donate directly, like Seanan's MPP fund.
I enjoy receiving info about the economy as I, too, am a numbers guy. If you ever need help, feel free to ask! Keep up the good work!!
