Join the new world

Hello, Good evening//morning//whatever-time-it-is in wherever-you-live !

Now that I’ve been there for more than a month, and starting to get a handle on how things are going on in eRepublik, and I enjoy playing with you guys. A lot of funny happenings lately.
This is why i’m writing this right now. My newspaper will consist in two kinds of articles of a very distinct nature : The first kind will basically be written in the form of a talk-show introducing people, and talking to them about random subjects. The twist is, that as I am writing this, we are both on a Google document, and he will answer my questions as they are coming, in real time. Spontaneous, honest reponses: that’s what you guys expect from me,and that’s what I’ll try to give you.

The second kind of article will be about my party, the United States Worker Party. I’m not sure how I will this turn this out yet, I still have to work on some details, so I’ll keep it secret for a moment.

Okay, let’s not wait any longer, i’d like to introduce our first guest ever ! Ladies and gentlement, please help me in welcoming the Vice President of the United States !

Mr. Vice President, we’re really happy to have you here, for this first edition of the Politico.

SColbert : Thanks for having me.

Alright, so you’re the VP of the United States. Care to remind us of what your job is, basically?

SColbert : Well essentially the job of VP is what you make of it. For me I have taken an interest in foreign affairs, and been keeping track of what is occuring on the domestic front. The VP job doesn’t have any well defined obligations though, like most positions.

Speaking of affairs, how is your marriage with the NK dictator going ? I do believe it’s going great, since we still have North Korea, and it’s been quite a while.

SColbert : Our love is as passionate as Pyongyang. He threatens me with execution, I cook and clean. It’s really just a normal marriage between two very loving individuals. Also North Korea has plenty of food, and everyone is happy all the time. No need to examine that further.



I'm not sure I want to. So, what’s your take on the whole “Rogue Civil War” thing? It has been the cause of quite a fuss in the eUSA forums. I believe it had also something to do with you being speaker of the house at the time?


SColbert : The rogue civil war has harmed our nation greatly, and forced the us to use American’s tax dollars in order to protect the eUS. It is unfortunate that Wooky would intentionally make our country weaker, and open us up to the possibility of a foreign takeover, all for a medal. Something he has been more than open about to gloat about. I am even more disappointed that Congress did not punish Wooky for the harm he has caused the entire country. Too many in Congress have mistaken the law for morality, and are reading strict interpretations of laws in order to help a friend of their’s. It’s sad we live in a time when politics comes before punishing those who hurt our the eUS. I am not ashamed to say that I am tough on those who damage our country. It’s too bad many in congress who voted against punishment cannot say the same.

As to my involvement with the dictatorship law, I was the Speaker of the House at the time it was passed. I am very proud of my involvement with this law, as it protects the eUS from the threat of a foreign takeover through the dictatorship module. It’s unfortunate that we were put in this situation by Plato, but it does us as a country a disservice not to adapt to the times when the very way of operating a government through the game is dramatically altered.


If anything, that was pretty clear. In the recent days following the event, the Congress eventually approved the funding for the reinstallation of Trekker as Dictator again. So I guess we can move on to the other important subject of the last few days, Congress elections. So, Mr. Vice President, you’re a member of the United States Worker Party ! What do you think of your party ? Was your party an important part of your eRepublik career? What do you think of Animis, our new Party President?

SColbert : Well I did not start my career in USWP. I actually started in a party named the Bastards of Liberty. We were a 6th party, and ViKy was also a member of the party at the time. We struggled to be heard, and eventually dissolved. I then moved on to a party named Vox Populi, also a 6th party. We were fortunate enough to be given congress spots by the Federalists. I was elected to represent Vox Populi in congress three times, thanks to the Feds. Eventually after disagreements in party leadership, I left and joined USWP. My friend Wild Owl was in the party at the time, and I really liked what Othere, the PP at the time, was doing for the party. USWP became my new home, and after 3 months in the party I was elected PP.

USWP has helped me greatly though. It was through my connections in the party that I was able to become Secretary of Interior, and eventually Speaker of the House for the first time. USWP is often given a bad name by thos who don’t understand us. We are fiercely protective of our members, and are always willing to make the tough decisions necessary to protect the country, no matter how unpopular they may be. USWP is a place where you can do whatever you want really. If you want to get involved in government, we can find you a place, if you want to join a specific MU we know the people to get you in, or just want to do nothing? That’s fine too. We support our members in whatever directions they want to pursue.

Animis has been a pillar of our congress delegation for awhile, where she has served as party whip. I was very happy when she decided to run for PP, and am most grateful for the work that much of America did to ensure she was elected. Animis is doing a wonderful job, and has my full support.

Well, as a relatively recent member of the USWP myself, i can personally testify that you do give a hand to your newer members. I owe you a lot you guys, especially you, SColbert. Thank you again for everything.

While we’re at it, even if it’s till a bit far yet, have you been considering running for CP in June? You're the Vice-President after all.

SColbert : It is something I am considering very carefully. I have been talking to my friends about the possibility of a run, and have not yet come to a definite decision. If I did though I would leave the ticket as Trekker’s VP, as to only run for a single position. If you can wait till the 26th, you will hear what my plans are.

SColbert : I can’t say I have.


Me neither. And you won’t have to do it today. I only said that word to seem intelligent. However I will show you pictures of some people you may know, and I’d like you to describe them in a single adjective. Better than that, i want that adjective to be the contrary of what would be the adjective you would use to describe them.

SColbert : So an adjective that I would use to describe the word, but the opposite of the one I want to use?

Yes. The opposite of the adjective you would use to describe the persons in the pictures.

SColbert : Ok then.

SColbert : Uh…. not a lunatic.
