A Plea for Neutrality

Day 3,331, 10:42 Published in Switzerland Ireland by OogieBoogie3

It is my strong belief that Switzerland, in its best interests for sovereignty and security, should strive to be a neutral power in the world, free from the grasps of imperialistic powers that want nothing but power and prominence, and promote destruction and despair.

Do not take this plea out of context. I do believe strongly that diplomacy is our strongest weapon as it has been for some time, but we should refrain from crossing dangerous territory, especially due to our mere small size and vulnerability. Joining or affiliating ourselves with imperialistic military alliances will end one of two ways, and both of those results will involve creating enemies with powers that are much larger and more powerful than we. Preserving our sovereignty is a priority of mine, and we risk potential annihilation getting involved in others' quarrels. I've seen enough over my years across this hostile world to know that countries of our size are used as either cannon fodder or puppets to help assist the national and military prominence of others. It's in our best interest, I do believe, to ward away from the potential of falling into the trap of imperialism, as well as contributing to it with no long term benefits of our own.

Smart Diplomacy is more than just a political slogan and tool of propaganda, it's a long successful policy that has better strengthened our outlook and place in the world. We owe our current bid of sovereignty and peace to not succumbing to such imperialists, standing our ground for what we hold true, and bartering our way out of what could have been total destruction and complete annexation at the hands of Slovenia. We were smart about our strategy, we did not panic, and we did not fold. Do not be enticed by the potential that other powers deceive us with. It is in our best interest, I believe, to cooperate, but to set our own terms and preserve our sovereignty through military neutrality.
