2015 NHL Draft

Day 2,775, 13:57 Published in Canada Canada by Rylde

Well today is the day all Oilers fans have been waiting for since the draft lottery resulted in the Oilers receiving the first overall pick this year.

Its also the day all hockey fans wait for bringing us a step closer to a new season. That is of course if your addicted to hockey like I am.

To those of you that know me know I'm a die hard Oilers fan and always have been and always will be. I've lost a lot of cc over the years betting on the Oilers as they've been losers during my entire time playing eRepublik.

I'll keep track of the bigger trades that happen today and we can discuss in the comments section or in #ecan on IRC as I took today off just for the draft.

I've actually been kind of sick all week but screw it, beer and clamato for McDavid day!!!

Trades

#1- Ottawa sends Goalie Robin Lehner and center David Legwand to Buffalo for there 2015 1st round pick (#21).

I think Ottawa wins this trade as everyone knew they had to move a goalie eventually having 3 on hand. The goalie has concussion issues and isn't proven enough to warrant a 1st round pick. Legwand is also just a old man cap dump for Ottawa making them a clear winner.

Buffalo basically overpaid to make sure they got the goalie they wanted immediately. Time will tell if he was worth it.

#2- Bruins acquire 2015 1st round pick (#15) & two 2015 2nd round picks (#45 #52) from CGY for Dougie Hamilton

As an Oilers fan all I can say is I'm F***ing jealous. My team is in desperate need of defense and Calgary already boasts 3 good defenders and now add Hamilton to the mix. They gave up all this years quality draft selections for a great player that helps now and win the trade hands down.

The battle of Alberta will shape up to be a offense vs defense battle this year and unless Edmonton pulls a decent goalie out of there ass, Defense usually trumps offense.

#3- LA gets Milan Lucic BOS gets Martin Jones
Colin Miller, 1st Round Pick (13th Overall)

The Boston firesale continues as they give up an expensive power forward for a back up goalie, a defensive prospect and another first rounder giving them picks 13-14-15 in order of the first round this year.

#4- Buffalo trades Zadorov, Grigorenko, #31, JT Compher to Colorado for ROR and Jamie McGinn

There obviously cleaning house creating cap space and can a push into the top 5 picks be far behind?
Is this a complete rebuild to fix there cap situation?

You would think Hamilton could have been retained by moving Lucic so something more was happening in the background there and he obviously wanted to much money or didn't want to stay.

These are obviously just my opinions so feel free to argue them or leave your own below.

#1-Edmonton Connor McDavid
