{W.W.N}-Special Edition: Spoland alliance, Before and after Leaks.

Day 1,695, 10:57 Published in USA USA by Hale26
Good afternoon ladies and gents, today we have a special edition of the Stairway. In this edition we will be talking about the recently leaked O.N.E logs (leaked by Smee again) which basically imply the Poland and Spain are trying to tear America and Brazil apart via the new alliance.

For those who are not aware of the "Spoland" alliance, I'll briefly describe what it is.
This alliance would consist of 4 "original" memebers. Them being Brazil, Poland, Spain, and our very own America.

When news of this alliance was leaked, many players were understandably furious. Though all were fine with Brazil (a long time ally), the American public had numerous reasons to hate Poland and Spain.

Firstly, Spain and Poland occupy most of the Netherlands,Germany, France, and Portugal. Four states we have always been close with.
Second, both Spain and Poland took part in a wipe of America last year when O.N.E forces took the world by storm.
Third, these 2 nations are from O.N.E. This alliance has openly declared war on our alliance, TEDEN, so joining them is alot like throwing all of our allies under the bus.
Adding insult to injury, supporters of this alliance haven't defended their case well in the media. Just a few weeks ago Israel Stevens (Pro-Spoland alliance) was threatening to "punish" our longest ally, Canada, for leaking the news.

If you read all of that, the alliance sounds like a bad sell, right ? Well, there is a flip side to this.
As many will remeber, America had lost their 100/100 bonus for a few days awhile ago. This bonus made America one of the most profitable countries in the e-world, ensuring that our factories turned our twice as much material as they would had we no bonuses. These bonuses attracted hundreds of players to our nation, and made our newbs grow self reliant much easier.

Plus, there is a good chance that a few of our allies would be allowed to join the alliance. (like China, for example)

But all that aside, the anti-Spolland alliance people ran out of ammo to shoot lately because congress already signed a charter for the new alliance.
To put it lightly, it was a bit late for complaining.

That was until Smee Again (A notorious Greek troll, and occasional reporter.) posted a chat log that had key Polish and Spanish officials talking about how this alliance was a way to divide TEDEN.
Link to the logs.

In summary, we have asked some of America's best known congressmen to comment on these findings. Here is what they had to say...

I am suspicious of those logs. My views are in keeping with Cerb's views in that thread.
Here's the question to ask yourself: Why would an enemy leader (Smee) leak a log which would essentially HELP the eUS avoid a bad decision?
Here's another question: If an enemy leader (Smee) leaked a log that would help the eUS avoid a bad decision, is it likely that the log is accurate?

For the record, Smee is RL Greek, but I think he's been playing as FYROM lately, so that's why I label him as enemy.

I'd like to say the logs were interesting to read. Anyone who knows me knows that i'm on the fence with this new alliance, and while the logs give me cause for concern, we have to remember that while smee again is a cool guy, he's also an internationally reknown troll. And let's not forget, he's a greek citizen (Regardless of his current CS), and it's known that the new alliance will probably leave Greece out due to it wanting to avoid any Balkan theatre wars. All I can truly say is just sit back, examine everything said and given, before making a rash judgement on what is true and what isn't. 'Slow and stady wins the race'.

Smee is a troll, but I have it on good accord from multiple people that I trust that he does not fabricate logs, so I believe the logs are legitimate. In which case, we need to repeal that charter ASAP.

It shows Poland and the rest of ONE are OK with throwing Spain under the bus.

They deserve better allies.

In my opinion, people are acting a little more shocked about this than I would've expected them to. The official comment of the polish government is that those logs are in some way altered, and while the conversation might be genuine, a few key segments have been altered to create discontent. In my opinion, I don't find much legitimacy in that defense. I think the logs themselves are entirely legitimate, but the sentiment within them is a bit different.

Considering the fact that we basically said the same thing to Poland, that we would be retaining the majority of our allies, seeing them do the same thing to their allies isn't something that surprises me that much. As an original supporter of the alliance, the way I rationalized this seeming catch-22 was the fact that the leadership structure of the alliance was made in a way that no one country would be able to force the other into an alliance or alignment with anyone alone, and that you would basically need 3/4 founders to do so, if we intended to go into an alignment at all.

Overall, the next move is Poland's. The USA has taken the stance that we will not allow Hungary and Serbia into the alliance, nor will we go into an alignment with them. If Poland rejects that, then the alliance itself is dead, and we find our own path. If they accept, then the alliance survives. You can expect a statement from the administration when we hear what the next move itself is.
