SPECIAL EDITION- Choke Point Regions
Today we'll be covering Choke Point regions. Now, a Choke Point region is a region that a nation uses to link it's resources to it's capital. That being said, the region only become's a "choke-point" region if it is the only "landbridge" the capital has with it's territories.
If there are more then 1 regions connecting the resources to the capital, then it's a "land-bridge"
Let me explain with some pics...

Since there are 2 territories that link Poland to it's colonies in France, this is a land-bridge.

Since there is only one territory linking Poland to it's colonies in France and Germany, this is a choke-point region.

Now, the reason I call them "choke-point" regions is because if they are "choked", the nation will lose much more then one bonus. Hence why a nation with many choke point regions is vulnerable.
Today I'll be covering a few of the world's choke point regions. On top of this, we'll even give them power rankings! (Starting to feel like a gameshow host -.-)
For every bonus that will be lost if the region is "choked", that choke-point gets 2 points.
If it can be Resistance warred, that region also gains an additional 5 points.
Let the games begin !

NORTH AMERICAN CHOKE-POINTS.
...er..none...

WINNER- Cuba

SOUTH AMERICAN CHOKE POINTS.
Zona Central- 9 points
Originally a Chilean territory, this region provides the Argentineans with a 40% food bonus, thank's to it's connection with Auckland.
This region is often attacked by the anti-Argentine empire rebels. (Chile, Peru, Paraguay, NewZealand, some Bolivians...quite alot of people don't like Argentina, eh ?)
Thankfully, Argentina manages to hold down this territory.

Northern Cape- 9 points
Though this choke-point has been around for ages, it's not-too often exploited. Though Brazil is allied with South Africa (Meaning SA is all good with Brazil owning territories on it's land), you'd be surprised at how few RW are started here. I mean, maybe I'm not paying attention, but this is a really over-looked choke point.
That being said, it's probably because Brazil doesn't have any powerful enemies anymore, with their last one being Spain. (And that war ended months ago !)

Winner- TIE.

Asia (Including South Asia, and Oceania.)

Northern Australia- 9 points
Not sure if this will still be here when this is published, but this territory is currently the choke-point for 2 of Indo's bonuses in Australia. Though it's a young choke point, it's still a choke point none the less.

North-West Frontier Province- 11 points
This choke point is another un-touched one. With China mainly being a support country, few nations bother to launch attacks on their choke points. Because of this, China has been able to enjoy relative stability with their 100/100 bonus.
Of course, China has seen conflict too. I mean, they did almost travel full circle back to Asia, VIA Philippines, Columbia, Venezuela, Spain, and Italy.

WINNER- China, with North West Frontier Province.

Europe (Including Northern Europe, Baltic States, East Europe, West Europe)

South-West of England- 13 points
This territory was where France originally landed on British shores a few weeks ago. Many expected this war to end badly for France, with England capturing back the territory fairly soon.
But despite the fact that most of France was wiped, and ONE was supporting England, France somehow managed to gain a foothold in the center of the nation. French soldiers then went on to capture all of England, with their final "real" battle being in the East of England.
With all most of France wiped, and England providing 4 bonuses for France, this choke-point region gets a score of 13.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia- 9 points.
An originally Italian territory, this piece of land connects mainland Slovenia with it's empire in Northern Italy, and Southern France.
With the capital of Slovenia being in Emilia Romanaga, Slovenia would lose 2 bonuses if this land was captured.
That being said, it will most likely not be captured, due to a treaty signed between Italy and Slovenia.
Still, this territory earns 9 points regardless.

Styria- 13 points
The region of Styria connects Croatia's capital of Burgenland to it's vast empire across Austria and Switzerland. Burgenland originally became the capital when Croatian rebels were fleeing Serbian forces, who had already wiped their homeland, and were coming to attack the Croat colonies in Slovenia. Croatia lost the battle for their colonies easily, but managed to flee the Serbian advance by capturing Burgenland (Austrian) and using Romanian forces to block Burgenland from Serbia.
A few weeks later, the Croat army went on to capture the rest of Austria, and Switzerland.
Because Croatia is living on borrowed land, their nation has at least 3 choke-point regions, with this being the most powerful. At least 4 bonuses ride on this territory.
Other notable choke-points for Croatia..
Salzburg- 11 points
Tyrol- 11 points

Sjaelland- 15 points
Sjaelland is Germany's only landbridge to it's territories in Denmark, Upper Germany, and England.
Sjaelland was originally handed over to Germany during the merger between Denmark and Germany. This resulted in all of Denmark assimilating into Germany, to help both nations succeed in the e-world.
Throughout Germany's history the Danish colonies have been influential. Sometimes they're used as a land shield against Poland (or other enemies), or to help allies pass through the region (Ireland).
None the less, Sjaelland is originally owned by the Danes, meaning it can be resistance warred. So if a foreign force wants to injure Germany, look no further then Sjaelland. This territory connects Germany to 5 of it's bonuses, and is therefore worth an astounding 15 points.
Other German choke point regions..
North East of England- 9 points
North West of England- 9 points
Syddanmark- 9 points
Midtjylland- 9 points

Yep, Germany's just 1 big Choke-Point.

Saxony- 17 points
Yep, here it is folks. Saxony- mother of all choke-points.
Now ya see, this wasn't an accidental choke point. (Like most of these are) This choke point was strategically planned by a German CP, who wanted to be sure that even if Poland did invade, it would only take 1 battle to cut Poland off from their bonuses. (6 of them in total)
You see, there are in fact 3 territories that link Poland to Germany, but Germany rented out Pomerania and Berlin to Sweden, another ONE nation.
This not only caused trouble in ONE, but it's also left open the world's largest known choke-point.
However, Poland did make Sweden sign an agreement stating that they'd divert all their resources to a battle in Saxony if it ever got serious.
None the less, Saxony is the winner of our Choke Point contest. Achilles hell of Poland, we salute you 07

Western Pomerania- 15 points
During Sweden's war with Russia, rebel forces changed the capital city to Brandenburg and Berlin. (Germany's RL capital..oh the irony..)
Though Russia never captured Berlin (Peace treaty was signed), Sweden was still stuck with their capital city being Berlin.
Though Germany has agreed to rent out Berlin to Sweden, Brandenburg will always be in a state of in-security. Why ?
As mentioned further down, Poland would get very mad at Sweden if Saxony falls. With the Polish beast being erratic at times, the chance of an attack on Sweden isn't out of the picture. And plus, Germany just might betray Sweden for all we know ?

Nord-Norge- 9 points.
Gives Russia a food and weapon's bonus, courtesy of Norway.
This Choke-point was oft attacked by Sweden during it's war with Russia. However, that war's over now, so there's not much fighting in Nord Norge these days.

WINNER- Poland, with the region of Saxony.

Balkans and the Middle East.

Slavonia-11 points
Slavonia (at present) connects Serbia with it's 3 food bonuses in Croatia. Though Serbia used to have many a landbridge to get to their colonies in Croatia, that all changed once Bosnia and Croatia started to gain independence. Now the only way for Serbia to get into Croatian bonuses is Slavonia, a territory that could easily be RWed at any time
Other Notable Serbian Chokepoints..
Central Croatia- 9 points.

Marmara- 9 points
If Marmara fell, Bulgaria would lose 1 weapons bonus and 1 food bonus.

Sinai- 9 points
Not quite sure if Sinai will be here by the time this is published, but Cyprus would lose 2 bonuses if this territory was freed. And with how the Arab revolution is going, I wouldn't get my hopes up for this choke-point.

Al Jawf- 11 points
Al Jawf currently connects Israel to their colonies through out the middle east. Though Al Jawf connects Israel to 2 weapons bonus and 1 food bonus, it's not attacked much these days. Sure, the Arab rebels will often launch attacks on the territory, but none of them are very strong. In this region, it's mostly the Cypriots who get the most fire-power aimed at them.

Lower Egypt- 11 points
During the FYROM Vs. GREEK wars, Lower Egypt was being constantly attacked by FYROM backed rebels. Connecting Greece with it's colonies in Egypt, this Choke Point has always provided high strategic value.
For example- Lower Egypt was liberated a few times by Greek forces, because they wanted to have a buffer against FYROM. (Who had wiped their nation)
This still left Greece with 4 bonuses, even though the Greek homeland was wiped. (Keep in mind- Greece's capital is in Asir, not mainland Greece.
Other notable Greek choke-points..
Makkah- 13 points
Al Madinah- 13 points
Red Sea Coast- 11 points
Crete- 4 points
...yeah, not much of a chokepoint, eh ?

WINNER- Greece, with both Makkah and Al Madinah.

It's somewhere down there

So our overall winner is...
POLAND, with the region of Saxony. Congrats Poland, you are now officially the most vulnerable country in this entire game! With 1 well planned RW, your bonuses are gone for a whole day !
And congrats to whoever that German CP was that organized this whole thing with Saxony. My friend, you are a true hero 07.

Well, thanks for your time everyone, please vote and shout !
P.S- If someone could find me the name of that German CP, that would be great.
P.P.S- We may not be realeasing a war report summary today. I'll have to see how it goes.
P.P.P.S- Yes, I know it's late, but I accidentally deleted it. Twice -.-
Yeah, it didn't come out as well as I hoped it would, but hey, here it is !
P.P.P.P.S- The "Song of the day" thing only applies for our annual war-report articles. Not the fancy, over-hyped ones.
P.P.P.P.P.S- We may be publishing another article today, but it will be concerning the revolution against the War in Canada.
P.P.P.P.P.P.S- Good job people, we won Manitoba! Just remember to defend America when the next battle starts 😉
