Greetings citizens of eNetherlands,

As promised this will be my second out of four articles In the run-up to the elections to the country president elections for August. In my previous article I announced my candidacy for running for country president and in this article I will announce my plans for this upcoming term. I will also post a article with my cabinet a few days before the elections. As for my plans, I do not believe in making great promises because they are generally speaking hard to keep. As always becoming president is not be be taken lightly, it is a job that required that person to be around a lot and having enough knowledge of erepublik game mechanics. I will promise to take the job seriously and I will promise is to do my utmost in fulfilling my job and doing what is right for our country and protecting it against foes both external and internal.

Although you can never appease everybody whatever you do and how much you try to please everybody I do hope a majority of the eNetherlands citizens will agree with the majority of my manifest and will decide that on August 5th they will vote for me. One of my favorite quotes on politics is from the book (hunters of) Dune and although I am not seeking a memorable legacy I fully agree with the quote.

"The strongest and most altruistic leader, even if his office is dependent on the support of the masses, must look first to the dictates of his heart, never allowing his decisions to be swayed by popular opinion. It is only through courage and strength of character that a true and memorable legacy is ever attained."



Foreign Affairs
In my Manifest Article last month when I ran for Country president I said one of our focusses in our Foreign affairs should be on Aurora and trying to becoming a member of Aurora of looking for an alternative like being Pro Sirius and we did the latter. We made a noticeable shift in our foreign affairs moving from trying to get into Aurora to being a pro Sirius country. We were told by Aurora that we should keep working on our relations with Aurora countries like we have been for months now. We were offered to be a founding member of a sister alliance alongside with India, Albania and Egypt. After having a healthy discussion on the matter by congress it was decided to stop pursuing being a Aurora member and becoming pro Sirius. We were quickly accepted as a Pro Sirius country. From what I have heard we weren't the only ones to not accept the invite into the Aurora sister alliance.

Last month we worked hard on relation with our neighbouring countries, we worked with Poland and helped when they requested to move their capital on Western Netherlands (although that didn't happen). We worked alongside our North Sea Protection Pact allies, countries like Germany, eUK and Belgium. The upcoming month we need step our game and work even harder on our relations with other countries especially with both Sirius and pro Sirius countries and show them our worth and show them we are worth having as a pro Sirius country.

Defense
At the start of the term there was some criticism that the Ministry of Defense was too inactive but during the World Cup Final tournament they shown that this criticism was unfair and the the Ministry did a marvelous job with daily updates. There have been regularly post by the MoD with daily orders and they have been working with our North Sea Protection Pact allies on doing a mutual strike although that didn't completely went as planned due to a lack of communication on all sides.

Overall I think Defense did a good job this term but there is ofcourse always room for improvement. I absolutely want to get daily orders out every day and on time right after daychange. We need better communication and coordination with our North Sea Protection Pact allies. I know who I want to make my Minister Of Defense and I will announce it in my next article when I will announce my cabinet but he is very eager and has plans for this ministry.

I am also hoping this upcoming month a better coordination between Military Units. We are Pro Sirius now and we have something to proof we need to proof to our allies we are worth being Pro Sirius and show that we can do damage to help our allies. This means that people in eNL MU's need to fight where they are ordered to fight and not waste damage, this goes for all eNL MU's especially the State Military Units.

Home Affairs
As always one of the main concerns of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be immigration. The Ministry did a good job this month, for eNL standards we had quite a few citizenship request and some got accepted but also some got rejected. After the "incident" with Hollenboer there was a proposal in congress a while back to move Immigration back to UNLIN secret service council like it was in the past. This was abolished because it didn't work properly and I am glad it didn't get much support in congress. I do not believe that stripping the Ministry of Home Affairs from one of it's main jobs would be advisable.

The social aspect of the game is an important one, playing the game and pushing the button to work, train and fight are just a small part of the game. The social aspect of the game the contact with people who all over the globe and making friends with new people. The forum and irc are great tools in this social aspect of the game and we should encourage, encourage more citizen participation and more people to come to the forum and on irc. Tim Veltkamp will be a Minister without portfolio, he'll be Minister of Sport, Recreation & Fun under the auspices of the Ministry of Home Affairs and will continue his trout competition he has been running for a couple of months now. Last month we had the World Cup Tournament run by GEN. DE LA REY but that obviously ended after the final of the World Cup. I am hoping we can find something else to replace it with to keep activity going.

Finance
With the (reintroducing) of houses the wages over the globe has boomed. It was already not really feasible to take a job in eNetherlands but now that the wages has increased dramatically it is even not even profitable to work in the NL Commune instead of taking a job market in some high paying country. I do not believe it would be prudent to make changes to our commune based on our current situation, when something new (or something old is reintroduced in this case) the market is volatile. It will be better to till the situation stabilizes and then make a evaluation of the situation and what we will do. Until such time the Ministry of Finance will donating gold to Heikanu and Dave Brinkman for the Dutch Armed Forces commune. The Ministry of Finance will keep doing what they have been doing for months now, keeping the money safe, keeping the sheet with our income and expenditure and possibly increase our very limited income by using the monetary market.

Coaching & Recruitment
The Coaching & Recruitment is a retention tool for new citizens, without it a lot of new citizens will leave the game right away. Joining a game can be very confusing and a lot of people who do not understand the game will quit the game again right away that is why te coaching of new citizens is very important, contacting them making them feel welcome and teaching them about the game can make the difference between a new citizens staying in the game of leaving. The Coaching & Recruitment will contact new citizens and point them on their way, answer questions they might have. The Ministry will also post guides for new citizens explaining how things like for instance fighting works.
