[USWP] The Mechanics of War
Wild Owl
Greetings Workers and others,
In my last article, I declared that education would be a central part of my campaign for this month. I intend to stand by my words. This article will cover the mechanics related to starting a war, which lets be honest, is the reason of why many of us play this game.
There are three ways of starting a war with another country in eRepublik. The first, and most commonly used, is the Natural Enemy proposal. A Natural Enemy proposal is free and costs no money or gold from the country's treasury. It can be proposed by a Congressman, Country President or Dictator and needs 66% of Congress' votes to be passed. The Natural Enemy provides 10% damage and rank bonus to the country, and that 10% can often be a major factor in any war.
Another way to start a war, often if a NE is already being used on another country, is the Declare War Proposal. A War Declaration costs 200 gold + 10% of the country's population above level 5. It can only be proposed by a Country's President or Dictator and requires a majority of the Congress to approve it to pass.
The first way to initiate a start, and often the most expensive, is the Airstrike proposal. The major difference between an AS and the other types of war is that it can be used to attack any country on eRepublik as long as it's on the map and the two countries do not share a border. This law requires a large amount of both food (energy units) and currency.
Energy units Required = (country citizenship population + allies population) *250
The United States has conducted four airstrikes in its history. Two (Czech Republic and Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)) were successful, while two (FYROM and Paraguay) failed to land. An airstrike is often a fairly large event and attracts a lot of attention and damage from all sides of a battle field.
That's about it for now. Please do write in the comments if you'd like the USWP to cover any article related to ingame mechanics, and don't forget to vote and shout this article.
Sincerely,
Wild Owl

Nice!
Previous wars! 🙂
Mechanics are simple, but I do wonder is there any greater tactics behind? Something like Art of War. 🙂
Many of wars have been lost or badly hurt by making mistakes with simple mechanics.
Just because you physically see a border on the map does not mean there is actually a border is a big one. There are some insane borders out there that make no sense.
Don't assume, you have to click and read the map.
When you are attacking from a single territory you have left in a region and a RW starts in this same region you are attacking from what happens if the RW ends in a loss before the direct is finished and you loose the border?
You need to know this to understand which battle is your priority
You must pay attention to your 24 hour clocks. Having a RW's starting in the wrong place can throw the timing off for your major offensive.
You have to be proactive by knowing and starting the RW's where and when you want and don't assume anyone else understands what they are doing.
You cannot stop an RW from happening but you can start one first.
Please do write why only you are entitled to run our foreign affairs for the last several years!
Oh fantastic!! Thanks for publishing this!
