The Citizen Awards Scheme

This month, the Ministry of Home Affairs will be piloting the Citizens Award Scheme where members nominate candidates for awards for hard work and effort. We appreciate that the Honours Systems is in place but we're aiming to use this to ensure that it remains an elite and exclusive part of the eUK community. Below is a detailed outline of the awards and the nomination process.

Politician of the Month - This prize is awarded to the politician who has considered to have contributed the most during their period in office. This can include Congressmen, Ministers or Cabinet Members. What we are looking for in this award is someone who has gone beyond their duties in order to ensure the efficient and effective running of the country, whether by making key proposals or introducing schemes.

Economist of the Month - This prize is awarded to the citizen who is considered to have advanced furthest in economic development. What we are looking for in this award is someone who has proven themselves skilled and efficient in creating a profit for their businesses or developing a cost-effective scheme.

Journalist of the Month - This prize is awarded to the journalist who is considered to have contributed the most value, provided the most entertainment or provided the most assistance through articles and commentaries. What we are looking for in this award is someone who has shown a masterful use of language, a broad understanding of their subject and regular contributions to their newspaper.

Soldier of the Month - This prize is awarded to the soldier who is considered by the military to have been the most effective, helpful or efficient either in battle or through forms of communication. What we are looking for in this award is not someone who has contributed the most damage necessarily but someone who has prepared to go above and beyond their duties to help the British Armed Forces.

Citizen of the Month - This prize is awarded to the citizen who has joined in the last month and is considered to have made the most considerable impact. What we are looking for in this award is someone who has engaged with the community, been prepared to engage in public discussions and has helped out wherever possible.

Government Worker of the Month - This prize is specific to those who work in different ministries as apprentices, assistants, etc. and who we believe don't get enough praise. This prize is awarded to the government worker who has proven themselves most capable over the past month.

Nominations

All awards will be conducted through a nomination process and then public voting. We will use this here handy little form to conduct the nominations and then create public polls on the forum for people to vote. All nominees must receive three nominations before they are considered a candidate.

Voting

Voting will take place on the forums. Once the nominations have closed and the candidates selected, we will post a poll of the candidates for each award and members will have forty-eight hours to vote for their selected candidate. In the event of a tie, we will re-open the voting with the tied candidates and people will have twenty-four hours to vote.

A Guide: The Ministry Apprentice and Their Job

An apprentice is someone who builds their career by working for a government department, led by the minister. This is a way in which you get to learn on the go, and prepare yourself for a big future ahead. Whether you’re making connections around the world, or PMing new players, you have been given a one-way ticket to success. Clearly then, this is a position that can be used to advance your career in eRepublik- a place for those with ambition to start off.

Apprentice positions in eUK open each time there is a new term (5th September, after the CP elections). You apply by talking to a minister, or by posting on a specific thread on the forum. There are mostly two ministries that take apprentices: Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Others do take apprentices occasionally, it's best to check the forum threads and ask the ministers themselves to check this.)

Ministry of Home Affairs

The MoHA is there to provide information, help and guide citizens of the eUK, and to entertain them in an attempt to keep players playing. With a developed apprentice program, it’s a great place to start your work in politics. Anyone can apply and no previous experience is needed. Here you can write articles, update the wiki, help out new players and make suggestions on Educating and Entertaining players- discussion and ideas can be a big part of the role. Being a team player is also a crucial fact of life here, as you never know when or what will you need help with.

It is still possible to apply and be an apprentice, check out this thread, or contact Talon Karrde .

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The MoFA maintains the relationships with all countries of Erepublik, and plays an important role in country’s safety.. Apprentices here are referred to as ambassadors. Their job is to make contacts in countries of a given region, and find out who is their Country President, Cabinet members, and to gain a basic picture of the current country status. Persons applying have to be really good at communication, and will end up having the whole world on a speed dial.

One more thing that is important, is that if you want to move forward, and maybe become an Under Minister or even full Minister in the next term, you will have to step up, be active and give something to the community as they will remember you for it. Being an apprentice is not the only way to get your foot in the door, but it is a good way.

First impressions can make or break you.
