Join the new world

Dear UKers,

Congress is coming up and over the coming days you will see a large amount of articles and receive messages from congressmen who want your vote (assuming UK still has regions at the time).

What is the primary concern of these prospective congressmen? I’m afraid to say that in the majority of cases, they want to take the 5 gold reward and the shiny medal.



Of course they would mostly deny this but take a look in the public discussion forum, government ministries and in your own party forums and you won’t find many of them actually contributing a great deal. There are of course exceptions and these are the people who deserve your vote for re-election, along with any other players (new or old) who are showing effort to get involved.

I’m not trying to make a politically bias statement when I say these things, as some TUP congressmen have been just as guilty as those from other parties in their complacency and expectation that other people will do all of the work to keep the country and parties functioning.



Parties are an important part of eRepublik. They create close communities, forge friendships and give people something to be a part of. The competition and opposition helps to hold governments to account.

All too often these days, people see politics as bad for the country and you’ll see people state that they are apolitical or don’t believe in party politics. Then when they want to run for congress, country president or other positions, they call on the party machine to back them.

Competition creates activity and discussion and these are things that this country desperately needs.



This month, TUP are going for quality over quantity! The lack of active, contributing candidates in the country has recently lead to all parties running pretty much anyone who wants to for congress. This isn’t good enough and we’ve decided that it’s time again to only select official candidates who are worthy of your vote.

This doesn’t mean that they need a long list of experience. It simply means that they are prepared to contribute to the party and to the nation in some way. If you joined up last week and are ready to work for the country, TUP would be delighted to give you a shot at congress! If you’ve been playing for a year and have 10 forum posts, you’re going to need to prove you can be active enough.

So when you see the official list of TUP candidates this month, you can rest assured that only those willing to get involved and do their bit have been selected.



Other parties will be delighted at this decision, as they will obviously have a greater chance of gaining a large share of congress. Just ask yourselves if the candidate you are voting for has the dedication or ability to do a decent job. TUP are willing to sacrifice numbers and set the standard of what should be expected of congressmen.

Some parties will tell you they are extremely active but when it comes to congressmen and worthy contributions, every single party needs more quality contributors and new members coming through to be the leaders of the future.



If you’re a TUP member, I encourage you to sign up to the eUK forums. Once you’ve joined, request access to the TUP forum and start getting involved with the party. You still have time to sign up and run this month but you must be active and willing to get involved.

Those that go a step further and join us on IRC have every opportunity to progress quickly and gain further assistance from the party. Commitment and activity is rewarded.
